The size of the ice pack also makes it useful for other areas like the back. It is a little difficult to put on with an injured shoulder. I also found that it was heavier than I expected it to be, which could be a concern for an extra sore shoulder. To avoid the strain of a heavier pack, I found that a Ziplock bag with ice and paper towel was lighter, but not as effective in providing complete coverage.
