The Thorn Razor (Black)

After buying the Leaf Thorn razor, I must admit I’m very pleased with its performance. For the sake of context let me say a few things first. 1) I chose the Thorn version over the Twig since my normally coarse facial hair has evolved into an even more stubborn “gray bristle” variety. 2) I prefer razors with some heft to them. 3) Past experience leads me to never use the blades included with new razors regardless of price. That being said, the Thorn works wonderfully! I get an effortless shaving experience with a design that rinses easily and allows precise control in every area. Although it was lighter than expected and obviously biased towards the handle, it feels great in the hand and requires no extra effort (pressure against your face) to get the job done. My usual two passes produces a clean, close shave with no irritation. The included blades were added to my growing “zombie apocalypse use only” pile since folding my usual brand blades in half is quite simple and cost effective. If you’re in the market for a new razor you should seriously consider this one!

Aparelho funciona muito bem permitindo um barbear bem liso com apenas uma lâmina. Apresenta uma pequena dificuldade pra remover a lâmina com as mãos molhadas

I went on a real journey with this razor. I have always used cartridge razors and wanted a plastic free razor which is how I found Leaf. After doing some reading I settled on the Thorn because I have course facial hair and it was reportedly the more aggressive option for this type of growth. The razor arrived and I eagerly got to it and tore my skin up with razor rash and small cuts. It wasn't pleasant so I tried to tweak my technique but in the end couldn't get to a place I was getting a good, clean shave. I contacted Leaf and they suggested I swap it for a Twig which was milder and a bit gentler on sensitive skin. The service was excellent and the new one arrived which was better but not great still. I figured with all the great reviews if could be me so I watched a lot of YouTube tutorials on single edge razor shaving techniques. This helped me quite a bit as I learned there is a much different approach required and I was starting to get results I was hoping for but still with the odd nick and cut here and there. I could see that I was getting quite close though and any damage was quite minimal. Next I decided to also look at and re-evaluate my skin prep, so I invested in a shaving brush and changed my shave soap for a foaming oil (Aesop). This was the final game changer and my last shave was nick free and so incredibly smooth. I am really glad that I stuck with it but can say there is a learning curve that Leaf could potentially make some videos on to take newbies through the transition. There's no looking back for me, I'm 100% satisfied and would definitely recommend. I look forward to my shaving ritual now.
