Free spool results in backlash. Take up winding is not kept in alignment. Backlash/tension plate is missing from this design. Electrical harness works. I installed this winch. Used it one time to pull my boat out of water. It did the job but wire rope overlapped and backlashed when free spool. Requested return and approved. Installing was easy since there was a winch already there so everything was self explanatory. It came with a remote but I like using the hardwired button because it’s easier to use when plowing snow. It easy handles the plow and wet heavy snow that I push up into piles.
