Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

Book: 25/52. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire- J K Rowling. My Rating: 5/5. The fourth book in the series, and I must say that the plot thickens by the time I finished this one; there is certainly no looking back. This one is a personal favourite of lots of people that I know from the Harry Potter fan club, but not mine. Engaging, thrilling, action packed and especially the ending (without giving away anything). At Hogwarts, the school of magic hosts the Triwizard Tournament, and we get our new hero in Cedric Diggory, who made a special appearance in the previous part, with a full-fledged role in this one. Mr Potter is still a teenager with a messed-up life, all thanks to the dark forces still trying to kill him, unfortunately, to no avail, thanks to his support team with mighty Dumbledore and the helm of things. For the tournament, three schools are competing with their best champion, but this year, for a change, there is a Fourth champion too, which comes as a surprise. The three stunts that they need to attempt to be the winner with a ground-breaking finale, with so many riddles to solve to clear each one, are totally engrossing and engaging. The best part of this one is the Prof Moody Mad Eye, the new defence against the dark arts teacher, and Sirius Black, Harry’s Godfather, who comes to his rescue, finally giving him much-needed family support. This is the only book whose movie adaptation (still not up to the mark or detailed), but I still actually look forward to more than my personal favourite, The Half Blood Prince, where I believe the movie doesn’t do justice to Professor Snape’s character. One thing I must say that although this is my second reading of the books after a decade but I am suprised to find that I still love them as much as I loved them all, the very first time and if truth to be told, I have found some instances that I forgot after the first time, which was so Kool. Guess I need to increase my frequency of reading them again. Do let me know if this one is your favourite too, and how you like its screen adaptation?

My reviews for Amazon- Quality of the book is very good. Title is in Golden Shine, which goes away in time duration. Mine, however, did not go because I had covered it all the time. No folded pages or torn pages. No BOOKMARK . Introduction to Harry Potter series- HARRY POTTER is a novel Book series of seven books , written by Joanne Kathleen Rowling. It is about the mysteries and adventures of a young boy, named Harry Potter. He has a historical past, and he needs to fight the most evil person of all times, Lord Voldemort. Introduction to this book- Harry's scar is hurting and he has a strange dream. He gathers with the Weasleys to watch the QUIDDITCH WORLD CUP, but The Dark Mark apears to be there. Has Voldemort returned? Well, when the scar hurt, he wrote to Sirius Black, and his reply came back saying, he is coming to Harry. Harry becomes worried, he does not want Sirius go back to Azkaban. He says he was half sleeping when he wrote to him. A news appears. The Triwizard tournament is to be held. In this, The three wizarding schools gather together , and a Goblet with blue fires, known as The Goblet of fire, selects three students from each school, to represent themselves. The champions face deadly tasks, which can lead them to Death. Goblet of fire selects a Girl called Fleur Delacour from Beaxbautons school, Viktor Krum , international Quidditch seeker from Durmstrang, Cedric Diggory, Hufflepuff captain of quidditch and seeker for Hogwarts. However, one more champion is selected from Hogwarts. Of course, Harry Potter. Harry swears that he didn't put his name in the goblet, but no one believes, not even Ron. There are 3 tasks. Hagrid manages to tell Harry the first task, which is to fight Dragons. Harry tells Cedric. He was Hogwarts champion, too. Their new defence against the dark arts teacher, Alastor Moody, a retired Auror advices Harry something. Hermione and Harry practice the Summoning charm, and Harry summons his firebolt. Harry wins the first task, but there are 2 more. Ron, after the first task, reunites with Harry, which is huge achievement to him. Second task goes, and Harry's guessed it. To go to the Black Lake. Harry tries to find a book so that he can breathe under water. He couldn't find such book. Dobby the house elf, who is free and is being paid by Dumbledore at Hogwarts for work, gives Harry a substance called Gillyweed. Harry finds he's got to rescue Ron, who is guarded by merpeople . While crossing dangers, Harry recieves 2 nd position. Third task is to cross a maze, full of dangerous creatures. Meanwhile Daily Prophet news reporter, Rita Skeeter is making rumours about Harry, Harry and Cedric reach the Triwizard cup, in the maze. Cedric asks Harry to take it, and Harry asks Cedric to take it. Finally, both of them touch it together, but they get transported to a Graveyard, which Harry suspects is the one he saw in his dream. And then, Pettigrew says, Avada Kedavra(killing curse), on Cedric. He dies. Harry sees Pettigrew put his blood, a bone and Harry's blood in a cauldron. Voldemort arises. He duels with Voldemort and escapes somehow. Fudge, Minister of Magic does not believe That Voldemort has returned. Hermione finds out that Rita Skeeter was and non registered, basically illegal animagus, and that's how she's been overhearing things. Harry's typical 4 year finishes, but how long he's got to go? My reviews for story- Joanne has nailed it. I love it. I don't like the movie for this one, however. I prefer book than movies, as it provides more details. I am a true Potterhead. I have read 5th book, but now I am reviewing this book. Harry is truly brave, and this book is for all ages and gender.

When you have seen the movie previously and then read the book afterwards, it is obvious that the mind tries to compare between the book and movie. In most of the cases the book wins and here the same thing has happened for me. I've already seen the movie a good many times. The movie misses many interesting part that are there in the book and it's pretty obvious. Harry Potter is in his 4th year at Hogwarts. But before he goes to his school, Ron Weasly's family invite him at their house for The Quidditch World Cup. After enjoying the final match, at the night there was a chaos at the ground. They all got out from their tents and fled for safety. Suddenly at that time of night the sky brightens up with the dark mark or the mark of Voldemort. The Ministry began to look into the matter. The sign came up after 13 years and that indicated the Dark Lords arrival which was almost impossible.Back in Hogwarts their term started and Dumbledore declared that The Triwizard Tournament was to be held in Hogwarts this time. Two other wizard schools from Europe will meet them, one champion from each schools will be selected by The Goblet Of Fire and the three champions will compete, finally the winner will be prized with thousand galleons. This tournament had a rule where students who are and above 17 years can only take part. But when it was time to declare the champions, Harry Potter's name came out as the 4th champion. But Harry did not put his name. Now, it was time for Harry to prove himself to the magical world again and fight against the dark lord. I read this book in 7days. I purposely took time and enjoyed every bit of it. The author wrote the story in an amazingly captivating way. The twist at the end was really good. The friendship of the trio Harry, Ron and Harmionie was to the point. The character of Rita Skeeter was most disgusting one. I felt like killing her myself. Albus Dumbledore once again proved himself as the coolest professor. Sirius came back. His care for Harry was beyond imagination. How he suffered and spent his days so that he can protect the boy. But my favourite was Ron. Since the beginning he was so funny. His level of sarcasm is what I admire. Dobby, my another favourite character was there too, helping Harry. There are few dialogues in this book that I loved - "If you want to know what a man's like, take a good look at how he treats his inferiors,not his equals." - Sirius "Curiosity is not a sin. But we should exercise caution with our curiosity." - Dumbledore I'm looking forward to read the 5th book soon as I've already got my copy.
