With the bad reviews on this thing I was already prepared to send back before I even got it! What a surprise to see this sheath is perfect for my dexter sofgrip. It snaps in audibly so I don't understand how some folks are saying the knife falls out of its own accord? Again this sheath fits the sofgrip 7" perfectly. Don't know about other dexter knives.

I purchased this sheath along with the Dexter Sani-Safe S138-PCP 8" Wide White Fillet Knife. These two were made for each other. The knife slides down into the sheath, and locks in place. It is held securely, and requires firm pressure to remove it. The knife will not be falling out of this sheath by accident. Everything you could ask for in a sheath. It's attractive, sturdily built, and protects the knife, both from damage, and from loss.

I think a lot of people purchase Dexter knives to use every day in their job as a butcher or chef. If that's the case, I guess they don't need a scabbard. But I use the knife to clean fish and it goes with me when I travel and on the boat, so a good scabbard is a must. I like that it fits their knives up to 9" and it closes with a nice, positive click. I just don't like that I had to order it separately or that they didn't offer a deal to buy it with the knife. I'll get over it, but the scabbard cost me almost as much as the knife.

Paired this a-la-carte sheath scabbard with the Sani-Safe S133-9-PCP 9" Narrow Fillet Knife with Polypropylene Handle. For some reason this a-la-carte selections received better reviews that the various packaged versions which I checked out at The Sportsman's Warehouse and at West Marine. If you decide to purchase this sheath scabbard make sure you also purchase the S133-9-PCP 9" Narrow Fillet Knife so that the knife is sharp when you need it most.

Wore out my old Dexter knife sheaf and this one fit my 8" blade perfect. Mounts nicely on my t-top post with Velcro wrap on top and ty-wrap on bottom hole.

It fits my knives well, retention is good. It's long for my 6" knives but it can be trimmed down.

I bought this sheath for my new Dexter 3806 narrow fillet knife. It was advertised as suitable for any Dexter fillet knife, however the fit is not snug and my knife is fairly loose in this sheath. I’d rather pay a bit more but get a knife with the sheath.

It holds knives. It does it's job like a real champ.
