Quality Crafting Shears w/ Pop & Style
Historically, this manufacturer has been recognized for their quality stationery products, and these folding shears are no exception. Therefore, please bypass the previous (ignorantly) posted review about these pocket folding shears not being heavy duty - they were NOT meant to be “heavy duty”, and there are NO claims of “heavy duty” capabilities anywhere within the product description. This pocket-sized, folding shears work exactly as intended throughout the realm of crafting, journaling, and various stationery-related activities. It is compact, operable with one had for quick deployment or speedy storage. The unit fits in your pocket, has an integrated loop that is convenient for mounting onto a keychain, lanyard, or maybe a soft material tether. The housing isn’t comprised of any kind of expensive, dense plastic material, but it is sturdy nonetheless. The blades are lubricated for long-term use with a very sharp, spring-loaded blade, and the stationary blade is sharp enough to cut through packing tape on packages, and soft enough to not cut you should it be accidentally be left partially deployed. Overall, an excellent quality compact scissor that is ideal for every stationery nerd! If you love to journal that involves any crafting with paper or fabric, do any kind of gift-wrapping, or have any hobbies associated with heavy stationery products, and enjoy cool gadgets, this an excellent product. Buy it now - look at the cool color options!

Great but a small change could make these amazing!
These are amazing for small crafts. I picked these up to keep in my pocket as an everyday carry to cut boxes and also for small crafts in my journaling when I don't want or have a full pair of scissors such as if I'm cozy in bed or if I'm on the go. For my use cases, this is perfect! The build quality is fine but can be improved substantially very easily. I wish the company would implement this small change and I think all of the negative reviews would instantly vanish. Flaw AND Solution: The only flaw/complaint that I have is that the scissors are a bit flimsy. There is a lot of play side-to-side with the blades which makes the whole thing feel inaccurate and cheap. It's also sometimes awkward to cut because there is no lock when you're in scissors mode and pressing down often makes the scissors want to go back into the blade mode. Solution: If you were to place a small bit of material on the "right" side of the blades sandwiched between the plastic and the flat rectangle blade. This simple addition removes both of those issues. It removes the play side-to-side and also creates just a small bit of resistance that makes it harder to accidentally pull back into the blade mode. Overall, I would recommend these still and would be 5 stars if the company made this small change.

These are very handy and good for opening stuff
Its very balanced and can be used very well with one hand.great size fits well in my hand. Not heavy and very easy to use. Has a nice snap back and can slide easily between functions. Easy to figure out and suitable for all adults. Carabiner not included but it youd like you could attach one. Lastly, cuts good quality cardboard and also it cuts plastic as well as cloth very good. Pocket sized and one of the best in Japan

This really works!
Someone of social media was talking about this box opener and scissors. It does work and it is very user friendly. It was able to break down a golf set box. It was long and wide and it made it very easy for me to break down the box. This is small and mightly. I haven't used the scissors portion yet. I like that this can fit easily in my bag. I chose the biege color and its easy to find in my luggage.

not the quality i expected, still works well.
not as sturdy as it looks. Wish it had more weight. I still carry it in my bag and it has been useful. Takes a bit of adjusting once you realize how it actually feels in the hand. Would be a great design, and would happily pay more for one that was slightly higher quality.

This shouldn't be as great as it is.
This portable scissor/box cutter knife is simply dumb in the best way possible. All the quality is in the blade and the design. I was really disappointed by the quality of the plastic handle/body. It's very thin and light. I was expecting a solid thick plastic body akin to a Fisker scissor handle. After holding it for the first time, I was annoyed with the blade geometry, it (or more likely, ME) only likes to cut in 1 direction/orientation. Because of the blade geometry, you're literally just cutting with 1 half of a scissor blade. The blade likes to wander off the seam if you're going the wrong direction. It's a little difficult to open the sides of boxes also. REGARDLESS, I love this thing. I use it way more than my always handy pocket knife (probably because I don't bother to sharpen anything often enough) and honestly love how it can just sit in my key bowl because it's so small and out of the way. I fully understand why this thing won all the awards it did in Japan. It solved such a stupid small problem in an excellent way and in true Japanese design fashion, I don't think it went any further than it needed to go. Thick quality handles be damned, this thing is so awesome.

Another Japanese masterpiece
Another Japanese masterpiece from a great idea. But the build quality is not as I expected, the plastic looks pretty cheaper, and the blades get dull fast if you use it under extreme conditions. The fact that look you can completely hide the blades within the handle is pretty nice though, oppose to traditional scissors.

GREAT FOR WORK
I purchased this to use at work. I have to open boxes and occasionally cut twine and ribbon. It works great and the small size allows it to easily slips into my pocket. Very comfortable to use and durable.

Pocket ninja for packages and craft emergencies
KOKUYO’s HAKO-AKE 2-Way Portable Scissors are seriously handy. You get scissors and a mini box cutter in one sleek package! It’s pen-sized, so you can toss it in any bag or pocket and forget it’s there. The mechanism is genuinely satisfying to slide (soft snap, good click), and it flips from box cutter mode to scissors with zero hassle. Opening packages or snipping tags is easy and feels safer than fiddling with a full-sized blade, especially in public or when traveling. The compact design means the blade isn’t huge, so don’t expect to slice through thick cardboard or heavy-duty craft projects. For all your light cutting, they slice through paper, tape, tags, and thinner plastic bags with no hassle. It feels sturdy for its size, the cover keeps the blades tucked away safely, and it’s a conversation piece every time I lend it to someone. Just remember: novelty factor is real, but the practical side holds up too. My backpack is just that little bit more prepared for anything.

Cute little nifty knife
I love it but honestly if it was a metal body with a belt hook and the cutter setting came out a bit longer I'd pay 100$.

Must have if have many packages
It is perfect for opening packages. I have it close to my front door for ease of use. It is a decent size in the hand and also isn't a pain to hold even when using the scissor function. Worth every penny
