MTM S1072-11 Survivor Dry Box with O-Ring Seal, 10"x7"x3", USA Made, Forest Green

This is a very good little dry box for boating/camping use. However, it is smaller than I thought i would be. The dimensions are clearly stated, and they are accurate. I just wish the bottom was a little deeper with a shallower lid. This would allowed me to use more of the volume easier. No star deduction, because this was apparent with the pictures and description. I would not say this is waterproof. This is a dry box. When used in conjunction with silica packs, this should keep your stuff dry in a humid environment such as a boat compartment. It floats. As long as you dont submerge it, it should keep your stuff dry. It probably will be ok for a quick dunk. However, do not expect it to keep water out if you keep this under water. This is a dry box, not a waterproof box. Overall, the box seems to be good quality. The hatches, general material, etc., are all good quality for this price. Mine did have a couple scuffs on it, but that really doesnt take away from the product. This is going to get dinged up pretty good in my use, so I feel that it it pre-broken in. I have no complaints on that. The compass is a POS. Lol, seriously, a magnetized needle on a leaf in a plastic cup full of water would work better. If you buy this, do not expect anything out of the compass. It is decoration only. This was my expectation going in, and the compass met that expectation. There is a reflector on the bottom. It is something, though not a replacement for an actual reflective mirror when in distress. This box could work for many things. I use it for a med kit for boating use. You can fit a small first aid kit, plus a few extras. You will have to be creative in how you pack it. Because the lower part is so shallow, it is difficult to keep things where you want them. It ends up being easier to put it all in a bag and then place it inside. Too many loose items and it will be hard to close the lid. Overall, I am happy with the product. I would buy this again. Although, since I already have this one, I would probably get the larger one on a second purchase for boating use.

All in all it is a great dry box. I haven't tried to submerge the box in water to test it, but if I leave it out in the rain it will surely keep the contents inside dry! I purchased the "small" box, but it ended up being barely too small. The box's dimensions ARE GIVEN, however its the outside dimentions. If you go to MTM's website (included at the end of this review), they will tell you the outside and inside dimensions for the two sizes of dry boxes. I am using the box to store ammo, and I place silica gel in there too for max effectiveness. The small dry box is BARELY too small for me to stack two 50rnd boxes of 40cal S&W ammo on top of each other, it will close but not without force and it's not sealed all the way around to the front. Turns out, the compass that you see on top actually sticks down into the box lid, probably close to .5". So you loose some space if you are trying to stack 1, 2, or 3 larger and longer items like I am; but small misc items shouldn't be a problem. Two 50rnd boxes of 9mm ammo will fit stacked on top of each other though as I did try that too. I'll keep the box b/c it is great especially for the price, and I have already ordered the larger size one for my 40cal ammo. Just check the website to get the actual inside dimensions so you know which size you need (small or large). I would def recommend. The smaller one is the perfect size to stick your wallet, cell phone and some other junk you need to keep dry when your out for whatever reason. [...]

Back when I worked as a part time PADI scuba instructor and dive operator, I spent a lot of time in and out of the water and I wanted to make sure the non-diving items would stay dry and protected from salt. Even though I am no longer active in diving (for now that is) after my trusty 20 year old Aqua Seal box broke I set out to find a replacement. This little box is great. The rubber seals are in place, the latches, though a bit over sized, and there is also a place for you to use a small lock. Normally a box this size (small) would not have 3 latches but just two (or even one) so that is a big plus. Should one break, the other two will allow you to keep using this box.This would also be a good place to keep a SMALL framed pistol, should you need to take one. I just need to engrave my name and phone number on it (if it ever gets lost) and I am ready to go! Thanks for reading!

The "dry" box is an alright item. It is pretty robust regarding design and is very water resistant but I found after experimenting that this feature gives way once a fair amount of pressure on the outside pushing in causing small gaps and water to enter. Not docking the product a star because of this as it is embossed inside "Water Resistant" and does an excellent job for that aspect. My complaint is that it took contacting Amazon (very helpful and quick by the way!) to order a replacement as the first one that came was missing the clips to actually secure it close! After getting the second unit (all clips accounted for) was I able to use/test it to see if it would hold up for my uses...and it does! Quality control needs to be stepped up as this could be a great 5-star product once the missing clip issue that, after reading other reviews, is a common problem. My use case are for a dry box organizer inside my expedition bag for items that really can't be compressed/squished and that I'd prefer to be kept dry.

Bought this to store my cigars for travel. With a couple of humidity packets inside, it does the job well! Nice solid snaps, no water got inside even while accidentally left in the rain. I'm happy with it.

très bonne qualité et facilement arrangeable dans un sac de type Seibertron Falcon étanche Militaire Armée ( acheté ici sur amazon )... , j'avais prix celui là pour les documents d'identité et papiers importants, je viens d'en prendre un autre pour les radio UHF/VHF et autres appareils...C'est donc en toute logique que je sois pas déçu...mais pas du tout....................

The quality of the boxes are good and it looks like original MTM. The only issue with them is that only 3of the 6 boxes have the compass.

Great case, strong protection..

Bought for a survival kit. Seems durable. Arrived on time. Overall happy.
