From Fire Stick to Sonos ARC or Beam, BK-929
I purchased the BK-929 to use the Amazon Fire Stick as the input because the Fire Stick outputs Dolby Atmos and my TV only has Arc output. The Fire Stick sees this as a Dolby Atmos device and enables Dolby Atmos output. The BK-929 extracts the Dolby Atmos and passes it to my Sonos ARC and my Sonos Beam 2nd GEN without issues. The BK-929 does not use CEC pass through which is a minor inconvenience. Now with the Sonos, this may be in my Sonos Beam settings for Ungroup on Autoplay, I have to actually select TV as Source before sound will come out, I will test this in the future. The Video Pass through works without issues between my 4k 3D LG and my 1080p Epson projector. The BK-929 passes the proper Audio signals to the Sonos devices according to the Audio Signals the Fire Stick indicates for the Source Audio Tracks be it Sterio 2.1 al the way to Dolby Atmos. Compatible with the Fire Stick as input and the Sonos ARC or Beam 2nd GEN as Output Setup was very easy, after all the connections were made, it just worked. Solid build, it feels like quality in your hand. Well worth the money. CON: No CEC pass through, definitely not a deal breaker though. I am very happy with this purchase and would recommend it to others, it just works.

Good audio extractor, but CEC does not work with DirecTV Gemini Air screening device.
The audio extractor for sending the video to the tv and audio to the soundbar is really good. The only reason I am not giving it 5 stars is that the CEC does not work with DirecTV’s Gemini Air to control the soundbar from the Gemini remote.

Good Solution for PC Gamers - Atmos and DTS:X Support from GPU HDMI
I purchased this product to connect my NVidia GPU (HDMI) to my gaming monitor and Atmos soundbar. This is an updated review. I had purchased this product and was originally dissatisfied with it and returned it. I am a PC gamers that was attempting to connect my NVidia HDMI port to my soundbar eARC port and my gaming monitor. My two concerns in my initial review was that BK-929 appeared to be locked to 120Hz even though I was on a 1440p display with much higher refresh rate. Adding custom resolution via NVCP did not work. Additionally, the BK-929 was using the EDID information from my monitor instead of my Atmos soundbar. This meant that the BK-929 telling Windows 11 I only had two channel stereo and no other sound formats were available. This was/is a common problem I found with units from other manufactures I tested. For years companies that created all these affordable "audio extractors" would only support users with televisions which accurately report audio formats. However, PC users were left out as nearly all gaming monitors don't have ARC/eARC. Orei actually read my review and reached out to me after I had returned the product and offered to help me find a solution with a firmware fix. The unit they sent out had an updated firmware that unlocked the 120Hz restriction and was able to support ~220Hz which more than adequate for gaming; however, it didn't fix the issue with unit only using EDID from monitor and not soundbar. I communicated with Orei support and they sent me an adjusted firmware that finally unlocked Dolby Atmos and DTS:X through Windows 11. Orei seems like a company that actually cares and are proud of their products. I'm excited that a solution for PC gamers wanting to use use their GPU's that already have the audio capability for Atmos and other formats finally have a product that will work with eARC connections to audio systems without needing a $400 adapter or an AV system with HDMI 2.1 passthrough. This is important as many of the smaller soundbars that are appropriate for a computer desk typically only come with eARC port and not HDMI input (ie: Beam G2/SB400). I'm unsure if the firmware fix was specifically made for me, or if it will fix the issue for everyone. However, if you're planning on using this device to connect your PC GPU to an eARC port on your sound device do know that Orei support is aware and has a solution for PC gamers.

Not recommended for 2k or 4k in 32:9 format and high refresh rate monitors
I was hoping this product could extract audio from my Hdmi output out of my pc, without running a second Hdmi cable to the soundbar to get true Atoms(pc recognize soundbar as a second monitor, can cause some weird issues). When I plugged everything in, I was very disappointed to find out it doesn't support 5,120 x 1,440 screen size @ 240hz(With the review from "Joseph", I thought the firmware can support up to 220hz now, but it is not true). Even though it is within in the 48Gb/s HDMI 2.1 spec. I can understand 5,120 x 1,440p is not a common size, but user base are growing. Hopefully with future firmware updates, you can considering supporting 32:9 at 1440p and 4k or even better refresh rates. If you have a standard screen size or under 120hz refresh rate, this product would work great for you. But if you have high end monitor that doesn't have eArc support(which most computer monitors lack of). You are better off just upgrading to a newer sound bar or monitor that has full Hdmi 2.1 earc support. If anyone out there knows a audio extractor that can support 32:9 and up to 240Hz@2k or even higher, please let me know. *Update* Orei support has escalated the issue to their engineering team, they are currently looking into it. They will get back to me in the next couple days with a update. Is good to see when a company stand by their product.

Doesn’t quite work
I bought this to have my appletv do a Dolby atmos pass through to my Sonos arc ultra to be able to watch movies with Dolby Atmos. I have an older Samsung TV that does not support eArc and will only allow Dolby digital 5.1. No matter what I do, appletv will not send Dolby atmos to my Sonos Arc. It seems Apple TV is still sending the audio format based on what the tv can support, rather than the Sonos soundbar. It’s unfortunate as I was really looking forward to this working.

Great job REI, love your products
Always trust REI products. Have been using my older HDMI splitter for years now and enjoy much. Very happy for my new purchase from REI. Just bought a REI 8k 48Gbps HDMI eARC audio extractor and confident everything will be fine with my TV and new soundbar. Great job on all your products. Will buy again!👍

Bought this to bypass my Xiaomi 4k laser projector which didn't allow Dolby Atmos. Initially didn't work, but after I contacted customer support and was provided instructions on how to get a firmware update, it worked like a charm.
