Great for retro hair styles
I do retro hair styles on a regular basis and have used many curlers, tongs and bendy rollers to achieve the perfect set. Nothing comes close to these hot sticks! My hair is currently waist length and I can get a good curl in each section with ease and the brush out is always smooth and glossy - much better than a traditional wet set. It does take a moment to get used to tucking the hair in, but cotton gloves aide in the process and give you some extra time to make adjustments before the heat penetrates. As my hair is so long I have 2 sets of these rods, but I take really small sections to get a really tight curl! It's definitely overkill but it works great, and unlike other heated rollers these very rarely get caught in my hair unless I've done something weird/silly. If you're looking to do retro styles (think Dita's pageboy, Jessica Rabbits marcel waves etc.) I recommend using Lotta Body setting lotion and grabbing a good pomade to match (suavecita has my heart!), and take a look at setting patterns to get the perfect waves. I recommend watching Miss Victory Violets's wet set tutorial on youtube as hot sticks and bendy rollers work in a very similar way, but as long as your ends are tucked everything else will be fine!

LOVE! Wish I found these sooner!
Actually loves these! Wish I bought these instead of all the hot curling tongs etc over the years! Litter tip: Use a bit of toilet paper on the ends when you wrap as it makes it a lot easier to roll and gives a nice finish with out ends sticking out all over the place! I also use a setting spray on my hair prior to putting these in which helps with hold!

So easy its almost silly
I was amazed to find these on Amazon, when everywhere else I looked they were out of stock, so I wondered if they were being discontinued. Good old Amazon! I had something similar to these many years ago, but when I had my hair cut short I stupidly got rid of them. Now my hair is longer and I wanted something that was familiar to me. I've tried heated rollers and can't get the hang of them, I don't know what I'm doing, but it never looks like the girls on the packet and the curls are always haphazard. I've also got curling tongs, which have their place, but the problem with them is that I've got to sit and curl my hair. These mean that I can put them in, do other things, get dressed, put on my make-up etc, whilst they're cooling. I read the instructions, but you don't really need them, its fairly straight forward, plug them in and switch them on and wait for them to warm up. They've got a red dot on the front of the unit which goes white when they're hot enough. This was a good fifteen minutes, so you're going to want to switch them on, go for a shower, have breakfast or whatever and come back to them. When they're ready its simple to put them in. You wrap the hair around the end and wind the hair up the rod. Then slide the end through the loop and pull to keep in. It's so easy its almost silly. A couple of things to be wary of though: Firstly, the outer rods get hot, but are still cool enough to handle in the middle, but don't be fooled, the inner rods are much hotter and will burn. Both ends of the rods are cool to touch though, so you've got to work out the best way of putting them in without touching the centre of the rods. Leave them in till their cool and then take them out and enjoy soft bouncy curls. The curl they create on mid length hair is a loose, romantic curl, though I've seen on youtube that using a setting lotion can create a tighter curl, so I might be trying that. On shorter hair they'd give some volume and shape, but not really a curl. And on longer hair, you're going to get an end curl, though maybe if you leave them in longer they'd be a bit better. I've given four stars mostly because they take so long to heat up, but it would be more like four and a half stars. Amazon should let you do halves!

Great piece of hair kit.
This does exactly what its designed to do - gives me super curly hair. As my hair is pretty straight I have to use a LOT of product to stop the curls from falling out, but these rods are great at getting them there in the first place. Play around with them till you get the look you want.

Amazing
At first I was hesitant to only get 20 sticks, but OMG, one pack fills one head. They only take 25 minutes to warm up, and 20 to cool down. Amazing for session styling, and quick styles. Works wonders on synthetic hair.

I like
I like those rolls, it works well with my hair. I have very long hair , but when I use them I don't need whole pack, and I don't use any spray any products. I leave for 1 hour sometimes less and I have curls for 2 days, but it is for my type of hair

(husband laughing hysterically in the background) and faffing was quite pleased with the result but my hair does need to ...
Trying to grow my superfine chin length hair (from a really short crop), used to have some of these years ago so thought I'd treat myself. I'd forgotten that they do give quite a tight curl but after a bit of teasing, (husband laughing hysterically in the background) and faffing was quite pleased with the result but my hair does need to grow a bit more before I'll go public with my Shirley Temple curls. One tip through, if like me your hair is so fine that it's hard getting the ends around the curler just get a sheet of loo roll/ tissue separate it so its one ply and you can rip it up to make some endpapers to wrap around the end of your hair before you put them on the sticks...works a treat!

Heitzwickler
