I have always regretted giving the old comics away when I grew up. Once you read one, you are addicted.This collection is excellent value for money.William DaviesSlough ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars if you feel victory has slipped from your grasp then wrench it back from the jaws of defeat by reading commando! *by S***E on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 20 October 2008* This commando ammo box which is strictly limited is a bonus itself since it contains the rare re-printed issue of the first ever issue "Walk or Die" which unlike the later editions some readers or objectors may find the contents offensive which i won't repeat here.But back to the box its sturdy and rugged enough to hold the first three volumes of the bumper commando series "Dirty Dozen", "True Brit" and "All Guns Blazing" preventing them from becoming casualties to the damp and rot when left lying around in unpleasant conditions while the certificate of authentication is somthing worth keeping hold of as mine was the 985/1000 to be bought but whoever has got the first one it will be valuable in the future to come providing its taken care of with the utmost care.Overall the books themselves made good reading which along with the box and other contents would make an ideal present to dads and their children and their childrens children. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Can't beat a bit of nostalgia *by G***4 on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 21 January 2009* While Eagle, Beano, and Dandy were my week-in week-out comics as a kid, Commando was my holiday treat. Longer than your average comic, they were what kept me entertained during the 'are we nearly there yet' car journeys and days at the seaside. That's my Commando nostalgia and if you ever had anything like it then buy this box set.There are only a handful of publications (Charley's War is another) - for kids or adults - that so regularly portrayed stories of courage, bravery, and honour without glossing over the gritty reality and, lets face it, futility of war. Yes, the political correct crowd might now froth at the mouth about some of the language, but in Commando it was never personal, it was always a comment on the ideologies of WWII. Most importantly the portrayals, positive and negative, were presented with care and attention to detail.That's the real joy of these comics, the care and attention to detail that has gone into them. As a child I was entertained while being exposed to serious ideas, but more importantly I was educated (I still know the difference between the MP38 and MP40 machine guns, and waiting for it to come up in a pub quiz!).
