Review: Dukan Diet Recipe Book - This diet is amazing. The recipes are easy to follow. I started my diet beginning of April and I have lost just over 8 kilos already. The only thing I am missing is bread. I bought the recipe book and the Dukan Diet book. I just needed the recipe book. I've had a few special occasions, so I was not totally strict at those occasions. I've tried different diets, lost the weight, put it back on and then some. I think I can stick to this. At the moment I am doing 5 days of protein and 5 days of protein and vegetable. I would recommend this. Give it a go, what have you got to loose? Review: My new best friend !! - Firstly, take time to read about why and how this diet works, and then read the recipe book. I took the book on holiday and planned my menus. I decided to give it my all and I have followed the plan EXACTLY for 2.5 weeks and have lost 9lbs. I feel great, and I'm already looking better - plus no hunger pains, no cravings, and no desire to deviate at all. It's so easy to keep to the recipes providing you get organised first. I have a stock cupboard of my most used ingredients, and shop weekly according to the recipes I've written out. Failure to plan in this case could be planning to fail as they say. It IS different, but that's why it works, and I wish I had started this years ago, but I guess it's never too late.

Good diet but bad recipe book
This is a great diet in that you will definitely lose weight pretty quickly and fairly easily (if you stick to the rules). It's hard for the first week, but you get used to it and it's really motivating to see the weight drop off each week. However this is a very dull, repetitive and uninspiring recipe book, with no pictures. For example, baked chicken with courgettes, baked chicken with peppers, baked chicken with herbs, baked chicken with spices etc etc. I find I can use or adapt much better and tastier recipes using the Hairy Bikers Diet Book or the Good Food Healthy Recipes app.

Innovative recipes, but has serious flaws
I bought the original Dukan Diet book, recognising that it was the only diet that was likely to work for my husband. It is no surprise to me that this is the best-selling diet in Europe, but did not sell by advertising or marketing, but simply by word-of-mouth. The obsession with low-fat diets in the 20th Century has caused an epidemic of obesity that can only be addressed by low-carb diets, which the French have always preferred. Yes, the Dukan Diet is not a "balanced" diet, but neither are the programs based on the USDA food pyramid that recommends 6-11 servings of cereal-based food per day. Many obese people have trouble sticking to low-calorie diets as they are always hungry. This does not happen with the Dukan Diet because the amount of protein suppresses the appetite. The consolidation phase helps stabilise weight & can prevent weight gain. The recipes owe much to a chef who followed the Dukan Diet & lost weight despite his calling. However, there are flaws in the general directions and the recipes: 1. Dukan advocates aspartame as a sweetener. This can causes weight GAIN, not weight loss; one of the breakdown products of aspartame is methanol, & this is poisonous (causes headaches). 2. Dukan suggests cornflour as a thickener. Not only does cornflour contain carbohydrate, it is a corn derivative that causes a severe reaction in me (& quite a few other people). Why couldn't he have thought of something else? 3. Some of the recipes contain soy sauce. All the bottles of soy sauce that I have looked at contain wheat flour. Surely this cannot be a recommendation for a low-carb diet? There is also the possibility that soy sauce contains monosodium glutamate (MSG). According to Harmony Clearwater Grace writing in HCG Diet Made Simple: Your Step-By-Step Guide Beyond Pounds and Inches , MSG causes weight gain.

Good recipes to help keep you on your diet
This is helpful in giving you some ideas to make your diet a little less boring. I have found you need to put a little bit more of the aspartme in the dessert recipes and this still lets you lose the weight. Worth getting along with the Dukan diet book. I have seen my weight come off easily by sticking to the diet. I am almost finished my cruise faze and looking forward to the celebration meals. It is not a 'must have' book as the Dukan diet book also has a number of recipes but it will give you a number of more tasty ideas.

Wanting to be slim again!
After several years of trying different diets, eating plans and slimming clubs I heard about this book from a friend. She had read the book and lost weight by applying Dr Dukan's ideas. This was enough for me to buy the book and as I began to read it my daughter showed an interest so I bought her a copy. My friend and I are losing weight at a good rate and my daughter intends starting soon. It is a very strict eating plan but at least no calorie counting which is what I prefer. If I stick to it, I could be at my goal weight end January 2012. Who knows? It's worth a try!

looks v good
I have had great success with the diet and am about to try some of the recipes. They re obviously a bit of a mixed bag from lots of sources. What I like is that there are lots of tasty and smart recipes usuing Dukan diet ingredients. It should be possible to make quite a number of dishes without say cream and wheat products, for example. But I am still about do this. Perhaps I can get back and give an update after a bit if testing

HARD TO KEEP UP !
I bought both the diet book and the recipe book in order that my hubby and I could lose some weight before a cruise we had booked. We didnt even get through the first 3 protein days only, as we were fed up with eggs and meat ! If you can stick to it, I do think it will work, but my hubby wanted potatoes which were not allowed, and peas and carrots which were also not allowed. The best thing I liked were the Galettes (pancakes) - they are great with cheese, tuna or whatever filling you like. I wished there were more receipes for 1 instead of 4 and 6, although there are a few for 2 which you can half. Stick to it, and it will work, but we didnt have enough will power for it I'm afraid.

I have tried many diets to lose the few extra pounds that have snuk on in the last decade, but most just showed me some tasty healthy new recipes and not much else. I have been following the Dukan diet for 3 1/2 weeks now and have lost 7.5 lbs. The weight loss is steady but noticeable - I have only 4.5 lbs to go until I reach my "true weight" (calculated on the dukan diet website - so easy!). I have found that drinking water really makes a difference in my weight loss - if I miss my recommended amount of water one day, my weight loss slows. Also, I have two servings of tasteless non-thinkening fiber in my morning coffees (one serving per cup) and have experienced no problems with constipation. I highly recommend this diet for those who have had little luck in other attempts. Thank you Pierre Dukan for this priceless gift of freedom from excess weight!

I had a hard time following this diet due to the extreme limitations in carbs and because it was so different from my normal carb loaded diet. You need a lot of will power or maybe some strong diet pills :) I did lose weight and so did my friends so it does work while you're on the diet and I think it helped me eat better after I was off the diet. It is a quick weight loss diet for sure if you can do. It's also from another country so I didn't know what some of the things it recommends were (look at the recommended Oatbran Galette you eat daily). I guess in the US we would call that a pancake but one of the main ingredients is non-fat fromage frais or quark. I did some research and discovered that was a kind of cheese but I never could find it. I substituted with low fat ricotta which is what someone suggested.
