Insight from science for business success In a brand new Preface, bestselling author Richard Koch describes a paradigm shift in business, whereby intuition is more important than analysis, ideas and product trump strategy, and influence is superior to control. In this essential companion to his bestselling The 80/20 Principle - the radical power law that helped thousands of people achieve more by doing less - Koch illuminates 92 other universal principles and laws to promote the science of success in an increasingly challenging business environment. From natural selection to genes and memes, from Newtonian physics to chaos and co-opetition, Koch demonstrates, in both theory and practice, what science can teach business: - Why growth is much easier to find than sustain - Why co-operating is better than competing - How there are infinite ways to fail, but also multiple ways to succeed Review: A lesson in rules - The author makes a less than convincing argument that the laws of quantum dynamic affects the way business succeed. Since each law presented in the first chapter is refined by each succeeding chapter only 20% of the book is relevant. The good take from the book is the evolution of the tools and best practices of business and applying the laws for evolution to business. If i believed everything in the book I would have to give the book only four stars or one stars to maintain the ratio. I was able to see though that ruse and gave the book 5. Review: Four Stars - i highly recommend this book , lot of practical uses of the 80/20 rule

Ambitious Book
Richard Koch covers a vast range of science here. So much so that it made my head spin. But then I have no background in physics, biology or mathematics beyond the very basics. I may have to read this again to fully "get it" but I did get a lot...actionable stuff at that. Like I said, he covers a lot of territory, which usually spells disaster because authors end up covering nothing very well. But this book manages to pull it off. Not something you could read in a couple of hours and then just forget about. This book will have me thinking for a while. The implications are intriguing, because it considers business from the perspective of universal laws...yes very ambitious!

Good book
I was somewhat disappointed with this book. I was expecting something different. I am sure many would enjoy it. I had a hard time finishing it. I believe in the principle. It is a good book, for some reason I couldn't connect with it.

This book makes a lot of sense
This book explains how the laws of physics and nature pertain to business, as it is like a living organism rather than a thing. It all makes a lot of sense to me now after reading it.

ideas and Information - the secret sauce for success
One of the key concept in this book is less is more, so I am going to keep it short. Better ideas and good information gives you the best chance at success in life and business.

Quite simply a tour de force. Chock full of insights for life and business, purpose and meaning. Predates and supersedes well traveled, otherwise worthy books such as Peter Thiel's "Zero to One."

A very stimulating read for thinkers !
As per some of the other reviews, this isn't for everyone ! I would recommend that you start with the 80/20 Principle, if you like that one and have a very curious mind that enjoys metaphors go for this. I studied Physics at University and was nodding along - God knows how non-science orientated people will get some of this, which is interesting since Koch himself studied Humanities. The microeconomics bit went on a bit long, but then again that's the only non-science included here =) However, his chapter drawing allusions between corporate success/failure and Darwin's laws of natural selection make this purchase worthwhile all on its own. His advice as always is pithy and absolutely on the money - in our company his books are manuals !
