The wire prongs push into the ground so with the centre post there are five points of entry into the grass. Some observations: The fact it comes in two parts means one pair of prongs is higher on the centre post, but since the prongs are all the same length the lower two are effectively longer. This is not much of a problem on grass, but it would be an improvement if one pair of wire prongs was longer. Probably fits a standard size pole used for popular pole feeders. **Q: Can this be put in a garden tub** A: The tub would need to be quite large and heavy with plenty of compacted material inside. Mine is in the middle of my lawn so on a flat surface. If the feeders were top heavy Or many birds were on one side I could imagine the pot tipping.
