Beware, Then Be Happy
This is a nice compact 3 in 1 home printer that does the job for what is was designed. It looks good, preforms admirably and works as a nice replacement for my twelve-year-old HP Envy that gave great service until it didn’t. It is a nice printer for moderate duty and gives sharp results. Not super-fast but quite adequate. For what it does, the price is crazy low. There is a catch, and if you have failed to do your research (like also reading the one- and two-star reviews) you may find yourself confused at best and caught up in a web of frustration at worst. The set up is simple. Embedded within it, however, is the HP free ink offer which is actually your signing up to the instant ink subscription. The cartridges provided by HP with this unit and thereafter are special. You can only set up the machine with the cartridges provided. Those set up cartridges are named “set up” cartridges and you can be assured they are a touch short of ink. After setup, they only work if you have a live subscription. Regular HP cartridges (68) work, as well as refurb-refills of HP cartridges if you are not subscribed. I might have signed up for the free ink then cancelled when it became costly. However, I have had way too much experience with subscription products to risk some complex nerve fraying process getting out of it or maintaining the right amount to be shipped by tweaking and re-tweaking. I want to buy ink on need, not prognostication. Also, if you take the program and you cancel, you need to be prepared to change cartridges since the ones provided are now useless. I located some 68XL (comparable to the HP 68e) that the reviewers said worked fine with the Envy 6155e. The printer likes them and they have done a super job so far. If you do not wish to participate, reject the HP+ offer, reject the ink offer during the app set up. Part of the HP+ is a direct printer link to the internet. Why? You can still print remotely through the HP app as long as your printer is hooked up to your Wi-Fi or LAN, which is already hooked up to the internet. Even then it gives you the option to queue up the print jobs then only actually print when you get home, which somewhat defeats the purpose. This is a great printer for price and purpose. Getting in the ink program is your call but remember you do have a choice and a means to have and use a really good product.

So worth it!
I am absolutely in love with this printer! Not only is the color beautiful, but it works perfectly for everything I need. It’s light and works well with cardstock 65lb with no jamming. It was easy to set up, prints reliably, and looks great in my house. Highly recommend if you're looking for something that is both stylish and functional and cheap!

Don't Buy HP Any Longer!
I have ordered a replacement for this printer...NOT a HP. The printer's description from the seller was false and included info that was incorrect and sounded intentionally misleading. The Instant Ink plan (3 months free) is a total SCAM and HP should be ashamed to even do this to their customers. When you register your printer you are automatically signed up for Instant Ink. Within a few days you are mailed two ink cartridges. When I called HP and asked why they were already sending me ink, I was told they were my freebies that came with my printer. I said thank you and hung up. I automatically went to the Instant Ink login to see how to cancel this program. It gave me the option to opt out of the program after the three months that was free...so I did. Guess what I didn't order any new cartridges because I had two free ones...yeah right. This all happened at the end of May. So almost exactly 3 months and a few days later, the black ink in my original cartridge ran out and I replaced it with my "free" Instant Ink gift. As soon as I did I started receiving messages on the printer screen that there was a problem with my account and if I didn't correct it then my printer would stop printing...yes you have to hook it up to the Internet to get it to work. So I called and asked what is going on...by the way I had gone to the HP site and once again cancelled the Instant Ink plan. At HP support I was met by insults, gross misunderstanding, not listening...talking over me when I was trying to ask my questions, and a disturbing lack of knowledge or understanding. I got mad and I was MAD...I screamed over him since he didn't think I should talk, I called the company a few choice words and threw him in there as well...nothing about his race or color by the way...just to be plain. I asked multiple times to speak to a supervisor or manager...which he ignored, just kept telling me I was at fault. I finally hung up and called right back. I would like to say I got a young lady that was very pleasant and immediately put me to a supervisor. And to make this 30 minute conversation smaller he agreed that the only way to get my printer printing was for me to pay the Instant Ink subscription...even though I had bought plain old HP cartridges and was willing to put them in...which I did finally as a last try to get it printing again. But, he did finally say he would have a manager call me but I should be able to print until one did in two to four business days...which would be not earlier than 4 days away because this was on a Friday afternoon. Shortly after I went to print and once again got the message about updating my account and the printer would not complete the print job. I called again...I got another totally rude man and hung up. In about 10 minutes HP called me and a man said he was to help me clear up this problem...I had to allow them to access my smart phone, and yes it had to be a smart phone he said, to take a picture of the cartridges in the machine...which I did with mass objections. He said oh yes you finally understand you can't use OUR cartridges...which I bite my tongue because I just wanted my printer to print. He wanted remote access to my computer...I said no so he had me check some settings and print one page which printed just fine. He had me turn off the printer and reboot and print another page which said it was sent to the printer but had not started to print. As soon as I said it was sent to the printer...he said thank you for calling HP and everything should be fine now and hung up. It took over three more minutes for the screen to tell me that I needed to check my account and printing would be stopped on this printer. I am totally disappointed in HP...this company has always been my go to computer manufacturer. My first computer was a Hewlett Packard back before the powers that be thought it was cooler to be called HP and maybe to lose the "cheap" computer rep. I have owned one more desktop and two laptops. I have owned multiple Hewlett Packard printers and several more HP printers. But I have owned my last HP anything. It's not the printer...it works well but the customer service. I have never been treated like this after I purchased a company's product. I have never been reduced to screaming and cursing at a customer service tech...yes I've had heated conversations with techs before but to scream and curse at them...no I have not. I usually can make myself perfectly clear by talking firmly and asking for a supervisor...neither worked with HP support. I am ashamed of having supported this brand for so long to have it turn into the company it obliviously has.

Once it was properly installed, which took a few trials and errors, it started working very well. Ink lasts surprisingly long. Feels like 100s of pages before it needs a refill.

I have been using HP printers for a long long time. Always found them very good but when my 6069 died and I had to replace it I saw this on sale. It's pretty easy to set up. Works great on Wi-Fi. But it's obviously very cheaply made with thin cheap plastic. I printed some pages this morning for the first time. The blacks are more of a dark gray and the colors are muted. All my previous printers worked amazing at 300 DPI. I had to turn this up to 1200 DPI just to get an acceptable print, but it's still not as good as previous HP printers. Another really annoying thing is that it comes with two cartridges, a black cartridge and a color cartridge. With all three colors in one cartridge, that means that if one color runs out you have to replace the whole cartridge. Convenient yes, but also an expensive way to go.

Easy to set up and connect to WiFi (which is the issue I was having with my 8-year-old previous HP). I wish there were more choices for smaller printers as it has a large footprint, but it's good quality and the printing is fine (colour and b&w). I use the HP subscription for ink as I do not use it regularly - handy it came with 3 months free. I can understand that some people would not like this option, but for my usagae it works out cheaper annually than replacing the cartridges.

This printer is really great for my home needs. I just wanted a printer that doesn't take up a lot of space and is easy to use and connect to. I would recommend this purchasing this product.
