Great pump
I purchased this pump to move water from an IBC tote into a horse trough. I needed a pump that would move a large volume of water in a short amount of time. I did not need high pressure, just high volume. Also needed 12 volt operation since this would be used in the middle of a pasture. For my application, this worked great. I would purchase again if I needed another one.

A serious water mover!
I'm using this in a recirculating water setup with a homemade shaker table setup. It is suspended high in a 55 gallon plastic garbage can with a divider and holy cow this is a serious water mover. 1.5" layflat hosing snugly slips over the outlet's beaded rim perfectly. I also have a 12 volt speed control hooked up to it and this Seaflo pump responds beautifully to any variable speed, which is necessary for the different flow rates needed to the shaker table's 1" spray bar 5/16" holes. It is exactly what I needed for having lots of adjustable headroom volume. it's a key function on my table for controlling the flour gold separation. This pump also delivers enough volume EASILY to run a rocker box sluice which I also use it for now, after seeing what this pump can do. it's hooked up there with an intermittent on off switch I work with my foot instead of dumping buckets of water down the rocker. The pump delivers a huge wash just by itself better than dealing with dumping buckets any day! I have two T 1.5" outlets drowning the 1/2" screen grizzly. All I do now is step on the switch and grab the rocker handle to shake a couple big shovelfuls. When I first got this pump I tested it with a 12foot 1.5" layflat connected to it, it filled the hose up quick! I pinched the end of the layflat closed half way and it easily shot that water stream 12' plus. Its an awesome powerful and SUPER QUIET pump. I already have on the work table the ultimate little bedrock crack cleaner utilizing classification in a bucket that puts that stupid little Snare sluice gimmick to shame. It is successfully running my custom 3/4" to 1.5" Venturi I made out of clear vinyl hosing with extreme suction. This 12volt 3700gph Seaflo pump surely delivers!!

Small modification makes this pump fire up EVERY time.
I am using this pump in a catch basin (not in a boat). Initially I found that it would run, but not pump on some (seemingly) random basis. (Others have reported the same experience). After testing several theories as to why, I finally landed on the problem and (simple) solution. Turns out that all centrifugal pumps (like this one) are 'non self priming'... period. What happens is... when the surrounding area the pump is located in (the catch basin in my case) dries out, then fills with water, air is trapped in the volute (the casing that surrounds the impeller). Then when the water rises and float switch closes and fires up the pump, a form of cavitation occurs and the pump runs forever without pumping water, despite being surrounded with the stuff because all its pumping is air, which is not what it is designed to pump. As the dry sump fills with water it cannot enter the volute because the air in the volute has nowhere to go. My solution? I used a short length of 1/4" drip irrigation tubing and one of those barbed fitting. I cut off the barbed part on one end, drilled the outlet port on the pump #22 and pressed the fitting into the the top of the port and attached the tubing (see photos). Now when the dry catch basin fills with water the air in the volute can escape through that tube and by the time the catch basis fills with enough water to trip the float switch all the air in the volute has been expelled through the added tube and the pump works every time. Of course there is a small amount of water that is recirculated but given the capacity of this pump, its probably not even measurable.

Good value for the money!
I purchased this bilge pump due to the reviews, price, and volume of water pumped. Great value for an effective mover of water. Easy to hook up, with the float switch, and quick to remove water from the bilge.

Great Pump, low Quality Strainer.
This is a solid pump, but the strainer basket broke in the first 5 minutes as I was trying to get it off. It does crank the water out, but if you don't have a strainer, you can ruin your pump in a heart beat. Why Cheap Plastic on this powerful device. With only one tab holding it, it doesn't sit right.
