THE BEST typing gaming keyboard!!!!
This Gen 3 has better keys than my original Apex Pro, but this does not have onboard storage /keyRGB. It does store key bindings and actuation points. It is a GREAT value at this price, typing is buttery smooth and quiet with satisfying feel making it tops for typing. Adjusting the actuation point is critical for error free typing, and changing for gaming is very desirable. I have all the top keyboards, and only the more expensive Corsair is it's competitor possible being more durable. I went back to my original Apex Pro because it has better per key illumination with twice as thick letters, and onboard storage of per key RGB.

Possible Apex of Keyboards (aha)
It's sleek, it feels good, and it's better than every other Razer thing I've ever used. I bought this because a brand new keyboard that I've kind of relied on being the Razer Black Widow it is basically become the worst thing to game with on the planet. Contrary to popular belief I do actually enjoy the clickiness of most keyboards but this one doesn't have it nearly as much and is much quieter. It's quite a bit more responsive when connecting to its third party software, which is actually built well, so programming it to do what you need it to do is actually do it fairly easy. After gaming on it as soon as I opened it up for about 29 hours straight it showed no signs of odd behavior. Long-term thinking if you're trying to clean this thing, the keys are not surrounded by a housing so getting to them is relatively easy.

Awesome keyboard
Absolutely great keyboard. Love the magnetic switches. When playing games I can be hard on the keys slapping them fast and hard. This keyboard has never missed a key stroke and feels solid. Have not used the multi key stroke settings so can't say anything about that, however the keys are very sensitive. The backlighting is really awesome as they down shine onto the keyboard as well as through the key caps. Makes seeing the keys much better. Love the big full layout as I have big fingers and they fit nicely onto the key caps.

perfect keyboard. go for it.
perfect keyboard for any gamer. keys sound so nice and creamy. the actuation is programmable so you can be either super precise or have extra room to play with. heavy, sure, but again you aren’t going to be moving it much. build quality - amazing.. almost. the media button feels a bit mushy.. it may be a bit loose. by the way it’s loose on both of my apex pro Gen 3s. the display is actually useful since you can configure the whole keyboard just from that. you can also add images to it or gifs to it which is pretty cool. though it has to be black and white. there is no colour and it doesn’t have greyscale. leds are pretty bright and look super satisfying. i personally have the pudding keys from steelseries which i would recommend, they look so good. software is a pain i cant lie, sometimes can be a bit hard to go through. also its so damn expensive.. though i can’t lie its worth it. i’ve stuck with steelseries keyboards since the first keyboard i ever got. i’ve always used steelseries apex keyboards, all others felt like they were missing something. and they were. it was the display. i always miss the display. the display is quite responsive but the refresh rate is clearly low.

Best quality. Expensive but amazing!
Best keyboard I've ever had. It feels so satisfying to type on it too. Light and colors are also beautiful during the day, and night too. Very heavyweight keyboard and sturdy too. Expensive as hell but worth it!

Possibly the Perfect Keyboard
I read all the reviews but this will much less technical and more about feel and ergonomics. I go through keyboards like they're disposable. I yearn for that perfect experience I had from an old Dell keyboard in the late 90s. It was mechanical and so smooth. I hunt and peck and occasionally brush other keys which results in typos and rework. It is not productive. When I get frustrated enough I go in search of a new keyboard option. I have donated at least 20 keyboards to Goodwill. All function but they just didn't have the right feel. Until this one. I knew it was pricey but I felt it was worth it if I could finally find a keyboard that didn't frustrate. This is it. The keys have the tactile feel I truly appreciate but they are not loud like a Corsair. Everything is smooth and easy to use. Even if you can't figure out the basics without a manual,. the manual is very easy to read and use. The keyboard is perfectly responsive and does not add artifacts if I brush a key. I find it hard to believe I would ever say this but typing on this keyboard bring true pleasure to me. I cannot attest to the gamer ability since I just work with it. For a work computer, this is worth the price of admission.

Exceptional Performance and Smooth Replacement Experience
The SteelSeries Apex Pro Gen 3 is an outstanding keyboard with an excellent typing and gaming experience. The OmniPoint 3.0 HyperMagnetic switches feel incredibly smooth and responsive, and the adjustability really makes a difference for both gaming and everyday use. Build quality is premium, and it looks great on the desk. My original unit did arrive broken, which was disappointing, but the recovery experience was very positive. After contacting SteelSeries, they quickly directed me to work through Amazon. Since I purchased it on sale, I wanted to make sure I kept the same price—and Amazon handled everything flawlessly, shipping a replacement right away. I’ve now been using the replacement for a few months with no issues, and it’s been performing exactly as expected. Despite the initial hiccup, the keyboard itself and the resolution process make this an easy recommendation.

Simply a bad product
- RGB cannot be saved into user profiles; the software must run constantly in the background for user RGB settings - The backlight flickers at what appears to be a 60Hz square wave (couldn't be bothered to check with MSO), raising the brightness doesn't increase the duty cycle, but instead makes the flicker much more noticeable as it's now brighter - Only the main set of keys has HE switches, the rest are basic switches with what seems like 4mm actuation - The keys rattle like crazy - Despite claiming to have "pre-lubed" switches, I can easily feel the keycaps rub during travel (is that what the lube is supposed to solve? idk) - The minimum actuation distance is nowhere near the advertised 0.1mm, and is probably closer to .5mm (RTINGS claims .6mm top deadzone in their review so it checks out) - The key labels are pretty much unreadable without the backlight, although I'm sure it's not unique to this keyboard as translucent labels for RGB offer inferior visual contrast due to the murkiness of the translucency + keycap texture Unrelated cons (not counted towards the rating, but an aside on the general pathetic state of the gaming keyboard market): - Sculpted and/or dished keycaps are inferior for both typing and gaming as they increase required travel distance for your fingers to move across keys, minimizing APM/WPM - Anything more than 1mm total travel distance is a waste of time and effort; increasing fatigue and minimizing APM/WPM - The keyboard is very tall which reduces the mechanical advantage of the wrist(s) which increases fatigue and reduces APM/WPM - Most keyboards slope upwards, while the keys themselves curve upwards as well, again reducing the mechanical advantage of the wrists - Textured keycaps are harder to clean and as mentioned above, make it harder to read the key labels The advent of mechanical keyboards becoming mainstream in the early to mid 10s has led to all of these problems subconsciously plaguing users and gamers for years. This has lead to the manufactured dependency that is HE/optical/whatever switches that are a stopgap solution the problems I've listed above that are pretty much inherent to mechanical keyboards. The marketeers have successfully managed to convince the masses that mechanical keyboards are inherently better than low profile alternatives like rubber dome/scissor switches. Apple solved all of these ergonomics issues with their A1243 keyboard twenty years ago. Unfortunately that keyboard has awful latency and ghosting, leaving me stranded trying to navigate the minefield that is gaming keyboards. I will continue waiting until someone on this planet manages to unshove their head out of their ass and make a proper low profile, low latency keyboard.

Alejate de SteelSeries | Stay away from SteelSeries!
