I purchased the cork grips, but the end caps are way too small for the holes.

They should fit just right in the handle bars.

What is the actual part weight for a pair?

Dont have a gram count, but they were lighter than the lock on rubber/metal ergos they replaced. Comfy on single speed, still need gloves for long day.

Do you need to install plastic caps ?

The plastic caps are included with the grips. Install at your discretion. It’s always safer to have caps rather than not.
