Because I am very sensitive to hot temperatures, a colleague who had worked in the Mojave Desert recommended the electrolytes that they had used for the desert work--Vitalyte. That was years ago, and I have not looked back. I have used it for field work, sailing, basically anytime I am going to be out in the heat for a prolonged period. It helps me avoid dehydration, which replacing with water alone does not accomplish as well. Also, and importantly to me, Vitalyte is free of artificial flavors, colors and sweeteners. Our favorite flavor is the Cool Citrus.

I really like this electrolyte powder! I'm a distance runner who was looking for an electrolyte replacement that is easy on the stomach. Vitalyte is it! It works fast and has a very mild, pleasant taste. I additionally like that it does not come as single serve sticks - the single use sticks produce so much waste AND don't allow for easy customization of drink size and water to powder ratio. Plus the value of this electrolyte mix is far greater than those "stick" brands you hear may hear advertisements for on your podcasts. I will definitely buy again!

Update to my review below because shortly after submitting the initial review the seller contacted me and not only offered a refund, but sent a new package to boot! 2nd package arrived in tact and just as expected. Will definitely reorder again. You can shop with confidence. OLD review ***Huge bummer, have happily used this for awhile, great product. Decided to purchase via Amazon seller and received a defective package as it was not air tight and as a result the entirety of the product was glommed into one big block. Not the scoopable powder that it is meant to be thus making using it a pain and annoyance to use. Tried to return it, but the seller has not responded to my correspondence -sent via Amazon. So leaving a poor review here. I'm still interested in getting a replacement, but we'll see.

It's not those other "sports drinks". This is not sweet by no measure. You must be careful with mixing, otherwise it's very bitter. I use this for cycling and it worked well. I did have to adjust what I eat before riding. Mix this with a bowl of fruit and to the toilet you'll go. With regards to the citrus flavor, over dilute it and it will taste like headache powder. Mix it just right and it's tolerable slightly flavored water. The silica gel packets are somewhat of a concern in a white powder. The mineral content is very good compared to the sports drink I was using.

My husband and I are avid cyclists and depend on Vitalyte for keeping our electrolytes regulated during exertion. We have tried several other products, including expensive ones marketed to extreme athletes, and we keep returning to this one. It dissolves easily, has a refreshing taste, is not chalky, and has no unpleasant aftertaste. It's not just for sporting and athletic activities; with all the heat waves these last few years, just walking and gardening and other low impact activities make people sweat so much, their electrolytes can easily get out of balance. We have shared this with friends who have had unpleasant (and scary) heat-related events and now they are converts. Highly recommend.

I work every day in hot motor rooms and out in the sun on blinding white rubber membrane rooftops sweating over equipment exhausting air up to 150 degrees Fahrenheit. I drink at minimum two quarts of water a day, and that can increase to a gallon or more during the hottest parts of summer. Obviously, I lose a lot of electrolytes in my sweat. It's critical that I replace electrolytes constantly. I've been using this product for two weeks, and it isn't doing the job. If the nutritional information is to be believed, then this product is 84% "added sugars". I guess that the other 16% is "Thoughts & Prayers", because it's just as worthless as those are. My muscles are so sore that I haven't even felt like working out this past week. In fact, when I'm done eviscerating this overpriced and overrated product I think that I'll go buy a real rehydration drink. A bland and nearly flavorless powder, I'm not sure what the Cool Citrus flavor is actually supposed to taste like. If it is supposed to take like "citrus", then it maybe tastes like something that your childhood friend's cheap parent served up when you were over, using half a packet of Kool-Aid to aid to a gallon of water and skipping the sugar. There's a hint of a flavor there, but it's so diluted as to be less of a flavor and more of the sensation that there's something off about the taste of your water. If I wanted off-tasting water, then I'd drink the metallic nastiness that comes out of my home's 80 year old galvanized pipes. All in all, it's a crappy product in that it fails in rehydrating me any more than the same quantity of plain water, and my sore muscles are the proof is in the pudding for me that this product doesn't restore electrolytes. It may as well be a bag of baking powder for as effective as it has been. If the manufacturer is really donating an equal quantity of this stuff to people at risk of dehydration in poorer countries, then they must hate the people in those countries. I don't really care about your charity if you're ripping me off. Don't waste your money on this product.

I have been using Vitalyte powder for almost 20 years. I love that is has other minerals, not just salt, and that it's not too sweet. My favorite flavor is Cool Citrus. I used it as an athlete when I was younger, and now use it to keep my hydration and minerals good when doing farm work on hot days.
