Great sounding speaker!! Must update this speaker to 0.39.
What I like: Impressive lows, mids and, highs USB-C charging Power bank Battery life Build quality App support Lighting No distortion Oluv EQ settings IP67 rated 80 watts What I don’t like: Significant volume level difference between the stock eq and Oluvs EQ settings Only pairs with other uBoom X speakers and not the uBoom L I absolutely love this new speaker from EarFun and after having it for a few days, I have to say I am impressed with what this speaker has to offer. Inside the box you will get a strap, a long USB-C cable, owners manual and the speaker. This speaker I have to say is heavy so the built in handle and strap works well with carrying what this speaker has inside to give its boisterous appearance and sound. The speaker weighs about 9 pounds or 4.15 kilograms. The build quality is great on this speaker and is made out of premium materials. The speaker on top has a built in handle with two aluminum hooks to attach the supplied strap to. Underneath the handle you will find 7 buttons (power, Bluetooth pairing, volume down, multifunction button, volume up, light control button and, party mode button. On top of the multifunction button you will find four leds which displays the battery level, ontop of the Bluetooth button is an indicator led and the power button has an indicator led which lights up when the speaker is powered on. On the front of the speaker you will a metal grill with the EarFun logo in the middle which underneath the grill you will find two 4 inch 30 watt woofers and two 20 mm 10 watt silk tweeters as well as two leds which light up when the speaker is powered on and which you can change and adjust in the EarFun app. On the sides you will see a passive radiator on both side and on the back you will find a rubber flap which underneath has two USB C ports (In and out) and an aux port. This speaker is also ip67 rated which means this speaker is dust proof and water proof. I only have one uBoom X speaker so I was not able to test the stereo mode or party mode on this speaker but supposedly you can pair up to 50 of these speakers for party mode and you can’t pair to other EarFun speakers. App: The EarFun app is a must with this speaker. Once you download the app you will be prompted to download the latest firmware for the speaker which at the time of this review is 0.39. In the app you will also be able to adjust the EQ settings yourself or select through a variety of different EarFun preset EQ settings or seven different tunings made my Oluv which he made for this speaker. You also will be able to toggle through different light settings as well as select video mode which lowers the latency on the Bluetooth connection. Sound: This speaker packs a great punch. It has deep lows, great mids and, crisp highs. I also toggled through different EQ settings and found zero distortion regardless of which EQ setting I selected. I also toggled through Oluvs EQ settings and found his EQ settings lowered the volume levels tremendously on this speaker. Oluvs EQ settings are: Studio, Indoor, Indoor+, Outdoor, Outdoor+, Boom XXX and, Ground 0. My favorite EQ settings so far is Outdoor + and, Ground 0. (See videos and listen with headphones to get the best audio experience.) Overall I am impressed with this speaker just wish it would be able to pair with other EarFun speakers. Clean and balanced sound, with versatile volume steps!
I was pleased to learn that EarFun has finally decided to offer a larger Bluetooth speaker and the UBOOM X doesn’t disappoint. (Please note: There is a firmware update available, via the App, that addresses an EQ issue and other bug fixes. Please update first.) The build quality seems solid. The sound is balanced and it can get very loud. The lights are cool and you can customize them within the EarFun App. The lights pulsate with the music as well. The App support is great, with plenty of sound profiles to choose from. Oluv’s tuning is included, but you can customize the sound to your liking. You want even more bass? You can tune it in the App. The battery is large enough to use as a backup power bank. This is convenient if your cell phone needed a quick boost. The speaker is waterproof, so no worries around water. The included carry strap is a welcome addition as well for those on the go. If you decide to get two of these, you can connect them in True Wireless Stereo mode (TWS). I can only imagine how loud two connected would get. This is another positive feature. I’ve made a short video that gives you an idea of its sound quality at a low volume level. Please use ear / headphone’s to listen to get the best representation (Oluv “Outdoor” tuning used in video). The sound is super clean, with tight bass. I tested it this way for folks like me who live close to neighbors and want to use it at home as well. Volume level is just three steps in video. The bass, even at this level, is punchy! I’ve been impressed with this speaker. What’s most impressive to me, it can play at a lower volume level and it still sounds great, with bass. It’s perfect for condo’s and apartments as well. The volume steps are very versatile. If you’re considering other larger speakers, this one definitely deserves serious consideration. One of the most balanced speakers on the market
For the record, I own 17 Bluetooth speakers and follow the entire market of new ones coming out. First thing to mention. Oluv knocked the tuning out of the park, even more than the Uboom L. This is by far the most neutrally tuned Boombox speaker I've ever come across in the "Studio" mode which was tuned to sound like a Neumann KH80. There's also Indoor, Indoor+, Outdoor, Outdoor+, BOOM xxX, and Ground 0 (for use outdoors when placed on the ground) modes selectable in the App which boost the bass and treble at the ends to different degrees. Myself and I think most people will prefer the Indoor (a little bass boost) and Indoor+ (more bass boost) modes the most, unless you're looking for a lot more bass where the Outdoor, Outdoor+ and BOOM xxX modes shine. The tuning does a really good job at not having the bass overwhelm the midrange detail which a lot of other speakers don't do very well. There's also a 10 band EQ if none of the presets are exactly to your taste. It also does low level listening extremely well like the Uboom L, just with deeper bass due to the larger drivers. There's a lot of low volume steps in the Indoor and Indoor+ modes to find your perfect low volume level. All the other modes are more for louder outdoor use and have volume steps spaced more evenly across the mid to high volume ranges. It's really well thought out. For those with a Uboom L, that speaker could be a little harsh in the treble as it was designed to be more neutral off axis so there's some treble boost when listening directly on axis. The Uboom X has much better off axis dispersion due to the real dome tweeters and doesn't have any boost in the Studio mode and just a slight boost in the Indoor modes and more in the Outdoor modes. The other issue with the Uboom L was at high volumes it would lose a ton of bass and wasn't that great outdoors. The Uboom X obviously due to its size and power goes a lot deeper and can hold on to more bass at higher volumes. This speaker measures 10db down at around 38hz, so it goes deeper than the Blast and Boombox 3 and the same as the JBL Encore but not quite as deep as a Go+ Play 3. This speaker will party mode with a total of 50 units, or can TWS in stereo with a 2nd unit. There's instructions in the manual for how to do each which requires a different pairing button press. Also something that a lot of people will like, it charges over USB-C so you can use your smaller battery banks to keep it powered or charge it. It's also IP67 rated like most other speakers in the class and has a 30 hour battery life. It's also noticeably lighter than the Stormbox Blast and much more comfortable to carry at 9.2lbs / 4.18kg (versus the 11.6lbs Blast). Another thing to note, the Stormbox Blast has a curve under the carrying handle which makes it want to fall out of your hand while this Uboom X has a flat bottom handle which stays in your hand better and is just overall more comfortable. The Uboom X also comes with a carrying strap and 2 metal loops to attach it to. You're also able to either change the volume of the power on/power off beeps or shut them off completely in the app. As for downsides, there's not many. It won't get quite as loud as a Boombox 3 or other higher powered speakers, and doesn't have quite as deep of bass as a Go+ Play 3, but with the amazing neutral tuning, I personally find this speaker to be my favorite. The lights can be a little cheezy, but it's really easy to turn them off. Also on that note, you can select any color you like for the lights in the app.

Great Sound, Impressive Power
Excellent portable speaker that delivers way more sound than expected. The 80W output with JumboBass really packs a punch - honestly, one speaker is loud enough for most situations. Sound Quality: Rich, full sound with solid bass response. The custom EQ lets you dial in your preferred sound profile. Bluetooth 5.3 connection is rock solid with good range. Features I love: - True wireless stereo pairing (bought two for this feature) - 30-hour battery life is no joke - lasts multiple camping trips - IP67 waterproof rating gives peace of mind at the beach - RGB lights add nice ambiance - PowerBank function to charge your phone Build quality feels premium and the speaker handles outdoor abuse well. One minor complaint: Wish the wireless stereo pairing instructions were printed on the speaker itself. Had to dig through the manual to figure out the button sequence for syncing two units together. Bottom line: Unless you need to fill a huge space, one speaker is plenty loud. The wireless pairing works great once you know how to set it up, but the process isn't intuitive without instructions. Great value for the features and sound quality you get.

Great choice.
Awesome speaker for the price. Between this one, and the soundcore boom 2, this one is much better. Gets plenty loud without sacrificing too much quality, and the eq settings are great, and actually make a big difference. The lights could be a bit brighter, and the speaker is pretty heavy tbh. I also have the soundcore boom 2 plus, and I'd say these 2 are comparable. The boom 2 plus gets way louder with no distortion, but the u boom x sounds better in my opinion. The Boom 2 plus also looks nicer. The build quality on the u boom x seems pretty solid, but it does look a little on the cheap side. Looks cheap, but doesn't feel cheap if that makes sense. Overall, im very impressed with what this speaker can do all things considered. Time will tell how long it lasts. Im not super easy on my speakers I use at work. My last speaker was a soundcore rave partycast and it lasted me about 7 years of daily usage at almost max volume in mechanic shops, out on the boat, in the spray booth, in the woodshop, etc. Hopefully this one holds up the same.

Best large boombox I have ever owned, and I've owned a lot!
I've been infatuated with big boomboxes for about 4 years. I've owned nearly every badass speaker out there, including the JBL Partybox Encore, JBL Boombox 3, WKing X20, Tribit Stormbox Blast, Zealot S95, and Soundcore Motion Boom Plus. I've also owned many midsize and smaller boomboxes. I've owned the Earfun Uboom X For 6 months now and it's my favorite and new champ. I like it so much, that I bought a second one and have them paired in tws, true wireless stereo, which makes the speakers sound so much more immersive. For the size to performance and cost ratio, It's an absolute no-brainer, and in this category, it's hard to beat. Pros: • Very satisfying fidelity, with good detailed highs, mids and very deep tight bass. Very full, balanced sound. This thing gets loud, and I have not experienced any distortion, even at the highest volumes while playing very bass heavy tracks. • Relatively small, compact, and lightweight. Many other large boomboxes are too big, heavy and unwieldy to easily carry around or set on a counter, without taking up too much space. • Great battery life. • Great app with the ability to make your own custom eqs. I can't emphasize how important it is to be able to do that. The lights have a lot adjustability as well. • Nice features, including Ipx7 waterproof, USBC charging, USBC power bank, aux, decent lights, included carrying strap. • Understated good looks. Very well made and durable. • Fantastic price, worth every penny at $160 retail. And if you find it on sale all the way down to $109, it is an absolute steal. • Turning the speaker on and off is a simple quick press of a button, no long press needed. And pairing in tws is very easy to set up and use. Cons: • I wish it had a karaoke function with included wireless speakers, a TF card slot, and guitar amp input. But now I sound like a spoiled brat 😁 • I wish the control icons were colored, because they are hard to read. They are raised, so I think it will be easy to color them easily with a permanent paint pen. • I hope an optional protective silicone cover becomes available. It could slip over it without covering the drivers, passive radiators and controls.

Excellent Sound Quality and Battery
This boombox has probably the best sound quality from all currently available models. Very neutral sound straight out of the box. This is the only speaker that sounds correct at every single volume level. Excellent bass extension down to 38 Hz (-10 dB) when its selected. Plenty of non-boomy modes too. Lots of EQ presets and a 10-band manual EQ to tweak the sound to your particular liking. The app also has free sound profiles created by Oluv for Studio, Indoor, Outdoor, Extra Bass, and Ground Level, which are all fantastic. Amazing sounding at low levels to support the equal-loudness contour. The 8400mAh battery is beyond excellent. It lasts about 40 hours on medium volume in my testing. Battery life will go down some when the volume is near max. But max volume is probably not something that most people would need under normal use, possibly for outdoor parties or worksite, but medium volume is plenty for everyday situations. Max volume is around 110 dB. Also has a USB power-out PD port to easily charge devices like phones and mp3 players. Latency in SBC Video mode = 48ms, AAC Video mode = 128ms, SBC = 112ms, AAC = 176ms. Can connect up to 50 speakers together in app to run from the same source. Has a built-in microphone and an IP67 rating. Probably the only negative is with the earlier versions of firmware having some sound quality issues, definitely useable like that too, but it's better to upgrade firmware, which can be easily done for free from the app, then it has free updates for life.

Buy this one. honestly great value and amazing sound and battery life
Absolutely great speaker for the money. The built in EQ list is actually useful even though it is tied to an app. It doesn't make choosing between profiles hard at all and makes it easy to switch from indoor and outdoor settings. The Bluetooth range is very good and battery life is astounding considering I listened to this unit LOUD for hours on end and it only dropped 50%.. Turing it on and off is simple and the hard carry handle is very durable. The only complaint is that the included strap clips pulled apart and I almost dropped the speaker as a result, but i was able to catch it. I wish the strap was better, but the rest of the experience was so good for the price that I am leaving it at 5 stars.

This thing packs a punch
If you like deep thumping bass, boy is this thing for you! Dance music sounds epic through this, as does reggae and pop. If that isn't your thing, no problem, Just go to the EQ in the app settings and tweak the sound to your liking or choose one of the many presets supplied. You will get something that suits your audio needs. Sound is detailed, smooth and full, I enjoy listening to this alot and find it handy in the office to stream radio shows to. I even used it as a sound bar for my TV by plugging in a cable from the TV headphone socket into the Aux in on the UBOOM and it straight away switched to that input and I had glorious deep sounds without any delay. No doubt you could also do this via bluetooth but my TV doesn't have that functionality. As with most EarFun products you get to control most things via the app including the lights on the front. You can specify colours, whether they stay on permanently or flash in time with the music. Select the black colour to switch them off completely. You can also set EQ, automatic shutdown time and upgrade firmware. This thing allows you to recharge your phone as well. via the Output USB socket behind the waterproof cover on the back. They do seem to have thought of everything. The item weighs in at 4.2kg and comes supplied with a detachable shoulder strap. Overall I am very impressed with this, the sound quality is good, it goes very loud, sound staging is quite wide, you can buy two and link them for a stereo pair (It can pair up to 50 units) the battery life is excellent at 30 hours and it took me 4 hours to fully charge it (It came partly charged). It is also very well made with no dodgy misaligned panels or connectors like you find on some of these things. Although it's primarily plastic, it feels premium, the metal grill on the front is very well finished and the weighty feel makes you feel like you've got your moneys worth. You can even use it to send and receive phone calls as it has a built in mic. If there is one thing I'd like to see it would be Siri or Alexa support through the built in mic. That would truly be the icing on the cake. It does play Siri results through the speaker but it uses the phones microphone to pick up your voice. The only other thing I'd like to see is more highly tuned but smooth tweeters as I do like to hear percussion instruments like Hi-Hat and tambourine. To hear these at a volume I like I've had to increase the 8k and 16k frequency EQ bands to their max and then reduce the 2k and 4k bands to -5 each to get a sound that wasn't too harsh. I'm just nit picking though for my personal tastes. Overall though I'm very pleased. Nice one Earfun. 10/10

Perfect Speaker for Spring & Summer Outdoor Gatherings (and to annoy the neighbour's)!
I've owned several Bluetooth speakers over the years, but I'm genuinely blown away by the EarFun UBoom X! After researching options for a new outdoor speaker to use in my garden this season, I took a chance on this one and couldn't be happier with my decision. First off, the sound quality is exceptional - especially the bass response. Unlike many portable speakers that just give you that annoying mid-bass thump, this delivers actual deep bass that you can feel. I was playing some of my favorite playlists while doing spring cleanup in the garden last weekend, and even my neighbor asked what speaker I was using because he was impressed by how it sounded from across the fence! The battery life is as advertised - I've been using it for hours at a time over several days and still haven't needed to recharge. The build quality feels substantial and solid, it is not as premium say as a X600 (which I bought last year and I attached a comparison photo) but it sounds so much better with proper bass. It is a much bigger speaker and has some weight to it, but I believe that actually helps with the sound quality and stability. What really sets this speaker apart though are the EQ presets in the app. I've been using the Outdoor+ preset for the past few sunny days while prepping my garden for the season, and it's absolutely perfect - great bass punch with crystal clear vocals and just the right amount of treble to hear everything clearly across the yard. There are several other presets too (Indoor, Ground, Studio, etc.) that I'm still experimenting with, but each seems thoughtfully designed for different environments. The waterproofing gives me peace of mind for those inevitable Irish spring showers. I also appreciate that it can charge my phone in a pinch with the power bank feature, as I might bring it on some picnics later in the summer. If you're looking for a speaker to enhance your outdoor gatherings this spring and summer, look no further. The UBoom X has exceeded my expectations in every way. I'm already seeing if my wife allow me to buy a second one to pair in stereo for our bigger summer BBQs!

The opposite of the JBL Boombox
Received this speaker today. It is an amazing value for money. Materials: absolutely acceptable, the assembly is good, everything is tactilely pleasant, but not to go on dates with it, it's an audio speaker)). Sound: the sound is good, and most importantly, it is controllable, there are a bunch of factory EQs that are useless for me, there is Oluv equalizer - it deserves attention. Most importantly there is a normal graphic equalizer with acceptable quality. In general, it is possible to achieve the desired timbral coloration, the application is good. Charges via usb c fast charging, which is a huge plus. On the downside: no Multipoint, but it's not such a big problem as there is an additional bluetooth connection "EarFun Audio". I mean that there is an opportunity to adjust the speaker, change equalizers, say when the speaker is connected to the TV and you are watching a movie. Another of the minuses that on equalizers oluv can not apply a graphic equalizer, I would like to theme something to fix). I hope this little thing gets fixed with an update. EarFun, you're good. Please keep up the good work, don't slip into the Jbl boombox sound. At the moment you are the opposite of Jbl, in a good way. I'm putting my boombox up for sale by the way.
