Good product. GREAT customer service.
First, I don't typically right reviews (I don't really have the time). So, when I write one, it's either because a product is REALLY good, or REALLY bad. I'm happy to say this falls into the category of "really good". First, considering the price, the quality/quantity/potency of what you're getting is actually rather impressive. It's important to note that the oil in these pills--like many lower-end fish oil pills, is in the form of EC's (Ethyl Esters). Without going into a bunch of chemistry gobble-di-gook, the basic thing to note is that you should take these supplements with a small amount of healthy fat--I like to take it during dinner when I do a broccoli stir fry with olive oil (for example). The other type of fish oil is called "triglyceride". This fat structure is the same as the one used endogenously (aka "inside of your body"). In theory, it is a bit easier to absorb triglyceride omega 3 than ethyl ester. Ethyl ester based products tend to keep better than triglyceride, and it is cheaper as certain bonds must be broken during the processing phase of fish oil production that result in an ethyl ester anyway (I.e. work must be done to transform the product BACK into triglyceride form). Okay neat. Why do you care? Well, your body cannot easily process ethyl esters. It basically has to break down that molecule, combine it with some other molecules, and re-create a triglyceride. Your body will do this easier if it already has some of those "other" molecules. E.g. fat. NOTE: This is NOT carte blanche to eat a bunch of fat. And if you've eaten in the past three hours this is probably un-necessary. I only bring this up because it's important to note the differences in this type of fish oil from triglyceride, and partly explain how they can make it as cheap as they do. Studies have not shown this form to be less effective. Yes I am a scientist. Neat! So, ok the product itself: it helps me, personally. I'm NOT overweight, I don't have high blood pressure. In fact, I'm in pretty good shape. I run (etc). But nevertheless, I always feel much better when I'm taking this then when I'm not. Fish oil is an anti-inflammatory, just like an NSAID, but without all of the fun side effects. I often have sore joints from working out. Fish oil helps with that. I'm a college student with a heavy workload under a lot of stress. Fish oil also helps with that (see google scholar). To cut it short, this product helps me in a lot of ways, and for the price, I really do think it's worth it. Not just for certain people either. ---- So, why am I writing this review? I get a lot of stuff on amazon, and I don't review most products. I am writing this review because of Nurtigold's AMAZING customer service. One of my bottles of fish oil went rancid before it was supposed to. Note: to check rancidity--test the firmness of your pill. Is is squishy? That's bad. It should be firm. If you cut one open, how does it smell? Fishy? Or "trashy"? You want the first. It's important to store your fish oil in a COOL environment. If you don't, it WILL go rancid early. Nevertheless, I did all of the above and still, the fish oil went rancid early. I wrote to Nurtigold, they responded in 12 hours and stood completely behind their product, sent me a free replacement bottle AND two new products to try (which arrived in 2 days), and all around were very amicable. I feel that the difference between a "good" company, and a "great" company, is determined not by how good the product is, but what the response is when something goes wrong. A good company makes a good product. A great company makes a good product, and when something happens, rectify it immediately. Nutrigold is a great company. And they will have my business for years to come.

Nutrigold Triple Strength Omega-3 Gold is a Best Buy!!!!!!!!!!!
This is quite simply an outstanding product for those who want the benefits of omega 3s found in fish oil.First of all, I suggest that you read the comprehensive review by RWM which is the first review listed. Second I suggest you check out the comments on that same review for OmegaVia Pharma-Grade Fish Oil, Enteric Odorless/Burp-Free. 1105 mg Omega-3. The comments offer an excellent discussion of all the knowledge currently available regarding fish oil. I have been using this product for nearly 2 weeks, taking one cap with lunch around noon and a second cap with dinner. This gives me about 2000 mg/day of omega 3s. My chronic back pain has improved as has my overall mood and sense of well being. The caps are rather large but I have had no problems swallowing them and no fishy burps.I strongly recommend this product. These are my suggestions when shopping for and taking an omega 3 fish oil product. 1. Since most people do not like to take capsules, choose a product which supplies a high amount of EPA/DHA in each cap. Nutrigold gives you 750/250 EPA/DHA per cap. 2. Pick a product that is rated 5 star by IFOS, the International Fish Oil Standards Program. They are an independent company who rates fish oil products for consistency, purity and stability, so you don't have rely on claims from the seller. That way you know that you are actually getting a high ratio of EPA/DHA, free of contamination and with good stability. 3. Pick a product that has at least 75% EPA/DHA since there is some evidence that a higher percentage is more effective in lowering triglyceride levels. 4. Take each capsule with a meal that has some fat. I recommend olive oil since I eat a lot of salad, but other fats will do. Studies have shown that when fish oil is taken with a couple of teaspoons of olive oil, absorption is increased by anywhere from 3x to 8x, especially with ethyl ester fish oil. There are two products I have found on Amazon that meet these qualifications and are priced very reasonably. One is the Nutrigold Triple Strength product. The other is Innovix Labs Triple Strength OMEGA-3. I consider both of these best buys.

Top Quality Fish Oil
I have been taking fish oil on and off for the last five years. I recently had serious stomach issues mostly related to a problematic gall bladder, and I really am cautious what I put in my body. I really see the supplement industry for the most part as a big money pit, but all in all I try to eat a well balanced diet, mostly organic. Going back to stomach issues it seemed any fish oil or vitamin I would take would really bother me even if it was a whole food easily digestible product on a full stomach. So I took a break for a year or so, and because I do not eat fish I really feel it is important for me to take a quality fish oil. For the last year I was taking New Chapter Wholemega which I really liked, it did not bother me and had good reviews including a good rating on Labdoor. Over time I began reading reviews about how the Omega 3 content for the price was pretty low compared to other options out there. I then saw this product as the #1 Fish Oil for quality and value at that current time (a few months ago). I have been taking this fish oil for 1 month now, and I have no stomach issues, no fishy burps ever. I am not going to sit here and say it makes me feel better, I have more energy etc, because I really couldn't prove that. I will be able to justify the use of this better if my cholesterol is effected in a positive way, or any other health benefit that I am unaware of. I would recommend this product mainly because of the companies stand on supplying healthy, safe and effective products.

Better than Lovaza. Got this recommendation from consumerlab.com. However it is ETHYL ESTER FORM!
First and foremost: Please talk to your physician before using this strong product, especially if considering using this to replace Lovaza/Omacor or Epanova or any other prescription fish oil products. Secondly, a lot of this information I use and trust is from consumerlab.com, though if you read the wikipedia page for the website there is some controversy over how unbiased and accurate they are. However, with the supplement industry being so unregulated and causing issues in the USA, I use any resource I can get to make sure supplements I use meet some kind of high standard. A consumerlab.com "approved" product meant that in their independent testing they found that the product met the claims on the label for levels of omega-3s, quality standards regarding mercury, lead and PCBs, and were not spoiled. A doctor can prescribe prescription fish oil for many reasons such as high triglycerides. Prescription fish oils like Lovaza has 840mg of EPA and DHA per 1 gram, of which approximately 465 is EPA and 375 is DHA. Nutrigold Triple Strength Omega-3 Gold was the only supplement on the entire aforementioned website that met my criteria of providing extremely high concentrations with ratio of EPA to DHA similar to Lovaza that was consumerlab.com approved and was also the cheapest in cost per 100 mg of EPA + DHA. Details below: - Nutrigold has 750mg EPA with 250mg DHA in 1060mg Total Omega-3s with cost for 100mg of EPA + DHA being $0.02 - OmegaBrite made by Pure World has 350mg EPA and 50mg DHA in 450mg Total Omega-3s with cost for 100mg of EPA + DHA being $0.11 - Vital Oils 1000 made by VitalRemedyMD has 250mg EPA and 750mg DHA in 1020mg Total Omega-3s with cost for 100mg of EPA + DHA being $0.10 Thus, not only does the NutriGold Triple Strength most resemble Lovaza in terms of the ratio of EPA and DHA provided, it was also the cheapest. Easy decision for me. ---------- Is Fish Oil better in Ethyl Ester or Re-Esterified Triglyceride Form? However, recent discussions I have had with a published doctor and advocate for Omega 3's that I respect at the Brain Health Education and Research Institute have led me to believe that omega-3 supplements should be in triglyceride form and not ethyl ester. Ethyl ester is cheaper and easier to manufacture, but fish oil occur naturally in triglyceride form. To make ethyl ester form, they expose the fish oil to alcohol so that they can distill the fish oil and concentrate it while removing contaminants. It was found that people absorb 37% more omega-3 fatty acids from natural fish oil (triglyceride form) than from ethyl ester form (if you want to search for the article on pubmed, look up PMID 20638827). That said, ethyl ester form is more widely available so most clinical studies with fish oil have been done on fish oil in ethyl ester form, so they should be safe. Yes, both the triglyceride and ethyl ester forms end up in the same form in your blood after digestion, but since the triglyceride form is absorbed better and is more "natural," I have decided to purchase fish oil that is in re-esterified triglyceride form, meaning they convert natural fish oil they obtain first to an ester to concentrate and remove contaminants and then convert it back to a trigylceride form. (However, note that some products may be labeled "natural" but not be triglyceride form.) It is the opinion of some doctors I respect in the field that Omega-3s be a concentrated formulation that is molecularly distilled, pharmaceutical grade, and are in re-converted back to triglyceride form. Anecdotally, some doctors have found that their patients got the same results with those kinds of supplements as they did with Lovaza but with decrease in side effects (especially upset stomach). From the consumerlab.com list that leaves only two supplements: NutriGold Triglyceride Omega-3 Gold (providing 400mg EPA and 200mg DHA with Total of 700mg Omega-3s, at $0.03 per 100mg of EPA + DHA) and Nordic Naturals Ultimate Omega (providing 325mg EPA and 225mg DHA with Total Omega-3s of 640mg, at $0.06 per 100mg of EPA + DHA). For my personal use, I have switched to Nordic Naturals Ultimate Omega but may try the Nutrigold Triglyceride Omega-3 Gold soon. Bottom Line: Consider using NutriGold Triple Strength Omega-3 Gold if you just want a Lovaza substitute and do not care if it is in ethyl ester form (as Lovaza is in ethyl ester form). If you are a hippie and like things more "natural," or you are doing your own research and find that the triglyceride form of omega-3 might be better or more effective for you, consider Nordic Naturals Ultimate Omega or Nutrigold Triglyceride Omega-3 Gold.

Good pills at a great price
I've tried 4 different brands of Omega-3 pills. I'm taking 3 grams/day (3,000 mg), so I've standardized on that quantity regardless of pill size or purity. Thus, I have a pretty good comparison of things like fishy-after-taste, digestibility, and price. I refrigerate my pills after opening and with the quantity I'm taking, the bottles don't last very long (2 months max). Thus, all are as fresh as they can be for the life of the bottle. These are the 2nd least fishy of the pills I've taken, but only marginally behind the best. The best were coated so they didn't digest until they were through your stomach (I bought them at Whole Foods, but forgot their name. They were not IFOS approved, and they were lower purity than any others I tried, according to their label). The NutriGold pills were less fishy than the 'premium' Nordic Naturals. In all, the fishy taste was not very noticeable and did not cause me any difficulties, and this was true for all the pills I tried. These are the 2nd most pure of the pills I tried. Since all the pills I tried are IFOS 5-star rated, they have minimal impurities and toxins (heavy metals, PCBs, ...). According to the IFOS tests, these are 83.3% pure DHA and EPA. The most pure were 84.5%. Most are in the 60-70% range. However, these are BY FAR the most cost-effective way to get Omaega-3 DHA and EPA of any of the pills I tried. They are 1/3 the price of Nordic Naturals per mg of Omega-3. The next most cost-effective, Omapure, are 50% more expensive. Since, at the end of the day, I'm very price sensitive between similar items, I will go with these again. In fact, that's why I came to Amazon today, to buy more.

Excellent Product and a Proven Supplement
Omega-3 is a supplement that has proven health benefits and is now an FDA-approved drug for lowering high triglyceride levels (now being sold by a pharmaceutical company as Lovaza). I've done a lot of research on Omega-3, beginning with the book called the "Omega-3 Zone" that Dr. Barry Sears wrote years ago and am a big believer in the product. The primary concerns with this product are (1) getting enough Omega-3 to receive the health benefits and (2) ensuring that the Omega-3 (which is derived from fish oil) is purified to filter any toxins like mercury. Research shows that to get the full brain-boosting, inflammation-lowering benefits of Omega-3, you need to supplement in the range of 1500 mg of EPA and 500 mg of DHA. And toxins like mercury are a particular concern at such high concentrations because of the amount of fish that are required to condense so much Omega-3. Fish suck up toxins like mercury, which is at higher rates than ever in the great seas because of modern pollution. I think that this product is excellent both in its concentration of EPA and DHA and in its pharmaceutical-grade purity. To gain the full benefits from Omega-3, however, you probably should take two to three pills a day. Even at that dosage, this product is still a very good deal.

I'm a lifetime customer now
I have a child with autism so it was particularly important for me to find a high quality fish oil. I have tried for years looking for a good fish oil but they all ended up doing The same thing- giving that horrific fish after taste and burps. When I found this product I was surprised to see how much DHA was in it compared to fish oils I'd spent double the amount on at nature stores. When we first began taking it I was worried it was fake because I got no fishy aftertaste, no burping. It's been over a month and with everyday use not only has both our vision gotten better, but our focus is also better. Also (I'm not sure if this has anything to do with the fish oil but the fish oil is the only thing different in the past month) my son's dandruff and acne have completely gone away. I never write reviews for products, but this one I had to. It's excellent. I'm a lifetime customer. I do wish however that they would add a little omega 6 to it to balance it out.

Not a fan of the new glass packaging
I've been buying the product for a few years. Price somewhat high, but great product. However, they recently changed the packaging from what used to be a sturdy white plastic container (the kind of plastic that vitamins often come in) to a dark glass bottle. Unfortunately the glass is somewhat thin. I just opened my recent Subscribe and Save order from Amazon, and found pills and pieces of glass all over the place throughout my order. It didn't just break, but looks like it exploded. In fact, it looks like the bottle was completely crushed. In any case, I won't be using the pills, since it's probably not healthy to be ingesting small shards of glass. I will also be pursuing a refund or replacement, but I doubt I'll be purchasing the product again until they go back to a container that can actually survive a typical Subscribe & Save shipment. UPDATE: 4/5/2017. I added one more star because Amazon shipped me a replacement bottle in 24 hours. (As usual, Amazon is great with that kind of thing!) I'm still not a fan of the glass container, though, since it will have ample opportunities to break in our house. But I'll try and be careful.
