Needless to say, the family was always asking him to turn the sound down. We've had the headset for over a month now and it's wonderful. If others are watching the show with him, he'll put on the headset and leave the tv volume at a normal level. At times, when no one is watching the show with him, he'll have the headset on and turn the room sound way down or off. I love that!Another nice feature he likes, he can continue to listen to the show when getting up to get a snack or grab something in another room.We haven't had any problems with charging or lousy sound, though don't expect high end quality sound. I needed additional items that I had to order in order to get my headphones to work for me and my TV. I not only wanted to be able to listen to my TV in silence but also wanted to be able to have the option of using my headphones to listen to the TV while others could as well. I have small grandchildren running around the house and sometimes have a hard time hearing what is coming off the TV.
