Gamblin Gamsol Odorless Mineral Spirits Bottle, 4.2oz

I’ve heard about gamsol from artists and videos online. Was worried about its toxicity, but of course always best to store it properly. I’ve used it for several colored pencil artwork already and its made backgrounds and other large areas that require a lot of color to blend smoothly and fast! I wish I ordered a bigger bottle. It’s transformed my artwork and has given me the coverage and results I’ve always wanted, no white little specs! I noticed it works well with wax based pencils. It works with oiled based pencils like the Polychromos, but it can get a little particular if not careful. It’s non-yellowing. It dries very fast. It applies well as I use a paper towel first to get the access off before applying to the drawing. It’s not sticky and it’s almost like water. It’s a natural brush cleaner as well which is amazing but always best to wash them after each use. I wouldn’t recommend anything better than Gamsol to blend and transform colored pencil work.

Excellent for getting that rich black finish at its deepest level without any appreciation marks of any kind beautiful Matt finish, no harsh glares like when you burnish.

I use it to dilute oil paints. It works GREAT for that. Zero smell. I enjoy using it more than linseed oil. Will definatly buy more in the future. P.S. It is good for cleaning brushes also.

The product worked as expected. Even though Amazon sent us a message saying that the order was delayed, we received the Gamsol in the original time frame.

Little overpriced, imo, for such a small amount, but still a great product. You can pick it up at Blick and art stores for cheaper. Low odor and lower toxicity than standard mineral spirits.

Great for cardmaking effects on blending etc.

I’ve added this solution to a Tim Holtz refillable marker for blending colored pencils . It works like a charm. I wish I could remember were I got this idea but it’s genius. I’ve had trouble with blending for sometime. It was making me frustrated and I wasn’t using my Prima pencils my daughter bought me last Christmas 2022 . Now my coloring is smooth and has depth. I’m not a artist, I just want to color stamped images for scrapbook layouts and cards, this solution and Tim Holtz refillable marker is, as Tim would say, a game changer!

I was researching to see how I can clean an alabaster stone. All the articles I read and videos I watched mentioned using mineral spirits. This was the smallest bottle and the cheapest I could find. Tested it out today and the stain on my alabaster plate is GONE!!! Worked like a charm without ruining my precious stone.
