Plug and play, easy set up and working perfectly

I have gone through 3 different MPPT controllers and this is the first to actually do everything it stated. Installation couldn't have been easier. I like the mounting brackets, they make mounting way easy. The controls although not all that obvious are easy to get used to. A straight right pointing arrow does not scream "Enter". Setting up the battery type and the load mode was super simple. So far so good. If things change I will edit. (NOTE: The Tech Support and Weather proof, I cannot comment on as I have not used the support or had "Weather" issue that would effect the controller) I had an opportunity to reach out the Tech support/customer service. I was attempting to register my warranty, However when I hit submit I was informed that the SKU/Product number was not found. I went thru the list and sure enough it was not there. According to support, I did not need to register my warranty since I bought it from Amazon and that I should just keep the Amazon information.

Burned! Loss of money! Bigger losses of time! I would rather have a device that fails immediately, and fails all at once. This worked at first, for a few hours, then the E4 error code appeared--after no changes--which indicated a short circuit in the load. I couldn't find any short circuit. Took it apart. Reset it. Nothing else changed. It worked again. Then failed again days later with no changes. It failed intermittently, frequently when I was out with it and really needed the solar. I began testing it with nothing connected to the load at all. It kept failing, showing a SHORT CIRCUIT when there WAS NO LOAD. It cost me many trips and many hours plus the money.

The instructions for attaching the cables to the “Renogy Rover MPPT Solar Charge Controller” aren’t described verbally or aren’t clear in the box. “FIRST lower each terminal hatch by screwing the terminals counterclockwise” see the “User Guide (PDF)” which is below the “Product guides and documents” at the "Renogy 100 Watts 12 Volts Monocrystalline Solar Starter Kit". The “User Guide (PDF)” doesn’t come with the “Renogy Rover MPPT Solar Charge Controller”. I think the “Renogy Rover MPPT Solar Charge Controller” is better than the “Renogy wanderer”. Look at the “User Manual (PDF)” for the “Renogy Rover MPPT Solar Charge Controller” to compare it with the “Renogy wanderer”. The “Renogy Rover MPPT Solar Charge Controller” probably isn’t designed to charge a "Pinty Portable Uninterrupted Power Supply 500W". The “Renogy Rover MPPT Solar Charge Controller” works alright with a “CHINS 12V 100Ah LiFePO4 Battery” when the battery type is set to USE and when the charging voltages are set to 14.6. Four 100 Watt Solar panels should be used with a “CHINS 12V 100Ah LiFePO4 Battery” is what I was told. I had to temporarily connect a 12 V A23 battery to the battery side of the Renogy wanderer and Rover before they would start charging the Pinty (the Pinty has 0 V at its solar charging port). I added a zener diode (in series) to the A23 battery to prevent reverse current (when the solar panel was connected to the wanderer). The "Renogy 100 Watts 12 Volts Monocrystalline Solar panel” produced about 73 watts according to the “Renogy Rover MPPT Solar Charge Controller”. The solar uv index was about 6.2 when the 73 watts was measured. Attached is a screenshot of “DC Home” APP paired with a “BT-1” and a “Renogy Rover 30 Amp MPPT Solar Charge Controller”. Maybe a “Renogy Rover 20 Amp MPPT Solar Charge Controller” would be enough for four Renogy 100 Watt Solar panels.

--- Why I ordered this item: My old PWM controller was trashing my battery out at the shed, plain and simple. I wanted something with real MPPT tracking so I could get more juice out of my panels, especially on cloudy days. Likes: * This thing pulls power even when it's overcast out. I watched the display during a partly cloudy afternoon and it kept adjusting instead of just tanking to nothing. * The LCD screen shows all your stats right there, voltage, amps, battery percentage. No app needed to see whats going on. * It has settings for gel, sealed, flooded and lithium batteries. I run lithium, and switching to that profile was just holding one button for a couple seconds, then it ramps the charge amps up steady and settles into a float once the bank tops off. * The case is metal, not some flimsy plastic shell, and it has a little heat sink on the back that gets warm when it's working hard. * Wiring it up took about five minutes. Terminals are labeled clear and it clamped down on my wire gauge without stripping out. No likes: * The fan kicks on under load and it's loud enough you can hear it clear through the shed wall. * You need the separate bluetooth module to get the app alerts and history. That's an extra buy they don't make obvious. * The manual is rough. A lot of the button functions took some trial and error to figure out. Would I pay full price for this product: Yes Final thoughts: On the charging side it pulls whatever my panels can give it, and swapping battery profiles between projects is just one button press. Buy the bluetooth module too if you want real monitoring, because the on unit display only gets you so far.

I already had a Rover 20Amp and wanted a larger charge controller to add to the system. I am now running Both the 20Amp & 30 Amp in Parallel for a total of 50Amp total charge power. I currently have a 400Ah Battery bank that it chargers and a 2k DC/AC Inverter t complete my system in my RV Travel Trailer. As you can see in the provided photos the inverter registers OK with an OK Checker. Most China made inverters show and open ground which I consider dangerous. Very Happy with these purchases ALL From Amazon. 110% Recommend...

Switching from my old charge controller to this MPPT controller allowed me to connect my solar panels together in series. Making better use of every moment of sunlight I get in my challenging surrounded by trees location. Batteries start charging earlier in the day and over-voltage when in full sun is converted to usable amps rather then being lost. Batteries charge faster when taking in this extra power. Worth every penny this controller upgrade cost me.
