It took us a few times of playing with me helping him for him to understand placing all of the pegs but he's got the hang now. We usually end up playing as a team against dad. The box for this set is super sturdy and will hold up for storage. But the pegs are not super tight in the holes and if the game gets aggressively bumped they tend to giggle loose a bit. There are extra pegs you can use if any pegs get lost. You can place your ships in 100 grid squares as well. Not all the pegs fit, but that's probably because there are spares. The game is fun overall and it is worth the buy. It does have some assembly required, but that is just popping ships out of some plastic and putting 1 sticker on each battle case.
