This machine has great functionality, isn’t a bad price for the machine and the things it can do (about what I’d expect to pay for a diagnostics machine of that sort), good portability (the Bluetooth obd plug is a bonus as you’re not restricted by leads) and very easy to use. Has good compatibility with my cars (Ford, Audi and Renault), reads them automatically and reads a lot of fault codes. It even tells you the what the code is, what could have caused it and what you could do to fix it (you need WiFi for this but I connect to my phones hotspot). Also comes in a nice case with all the leads and required. The odd update for diagnostics and software is required but these are free (bonus) and they just download and install over WiFi

I've used this for a while now and find it very good to use the bonus is its free updates for life and it does update regularly

This diagnostic tool is outstanding!! I’m so happy with this purchase, after using autel and launch tools I got this one as it had more features, AND, lifetime free updates, as long as they keep providing them. The UI is very easy to use and intuitive. Value for money, it’s probably the best buy at this price.

This is a great diagnostic tool!.. I have been using this little scan tool for the past week, and I am very impressed by its performance and functionality. I own a few other more expensive scan tools, including Autel and Snap on. And I can say, that this performs just as well and with more functionality. It is able to display 12 live data graphs, which is a huge advantage over my other scan tools, when diagnosing faults. And with lifetime updates, this saves me the ridiculously over priced subscription from Snap on, to keep up with newer models. I would highly recommend this tool to anyone, whether a DIY mechanic, or a Technician working in a garage.

Ignore My last review this diagnostic tool is unusable every time I go to use it I get errors I’ve done all the firmware fixes made sure everything is up to date the online support isn’t very helpful just ask the same questions over and overs again getting nowhere Problems I’m getting: Communication errors (most cars I plug it into) Crashing on smart scan (most cars) even glitches the vci out to the point I have to re download the vci firmware fix Can’t even access CBS on BMW’s it crashes and dose not respond when in the menu Sometimes when you finished a diag session it will beep to remind you don’t forget the vci but the confirm button will disappear leaving it constantly beeping at you no way to shut it up apart from shutting the diag down and restarting Power hungry in just one 10 min diagnostic session the battery dropped 20% Very limited to coding functions After giving it time I strongly disappointed in this diag I have been resorting back to my older diag what’s more reliable so unfortunately I’m requesting a refund

Top notch bit of kit!

Great piece of kit for the price. Only issue I have is the lack of ECU coding but that is specific for certain makes so that’s understandable. Would highly recommend and looked for this as a good budget option with good longevity as it has free lifetime updates.

Should have been 5 stars and explanation below. Took a bit of deliberation before settling on the THINKCAR TK689BT. Not used it much yet but it has resolved all issues I've encountered so pleased about that. However I've learned that the topology update promised in November 2025 that was assumed to be running a little late, is now not planned to be released to the device. I'm extremely disappointed as this is a popular device due to requiring no subscription and by now holding back a feature that was promised THINKCAR have sold a huge number of units based on false information. Disappointed and unsure of what can be done to resolve this. Companies should not get away with moving the goalposts like this. Consumers mustn't allow this to happen as manufacturers will pull features on products as they see fit and likely hide them behind paywalls which was never part of the original deal/contract.
