Sound quality not quite there though *by S***R on 10 November 2025* This is a gorgeous bit of kit that arrives in a huge box containing the mic and a very sturdy mount. It mimics the Neumann U87, down to the 87 in the name and is clearly an attempt to produce an affordable version of that industry standard mic with its warm, detailed vocal capture, wide frequency response and low-cut filter for help in handling plosives and noise. It's way more affordable and feels very well built. I was looking forward to flogging my U87 and living large on the proceeds until I plugged it in. Sadly, this just doesn't cut it by comparison with the real thing. I just didn't get enough bottom end and the effortless way the Neumann deals with wide frequencies was a struggle for the Suuntok. I then A-B'd it against my much cheaper ADK condenser and it was the same story. My ADK is no longer for sale. Maybe if you don't have a decent condenser, this will do fine. But I'd be tempted to read advice on U87 clones if that's what you want. And maybe try a few if possible.
