My all time favorite stylus
The stylus' replaceable tip is fantastic and glides effortlessly against my screen. The glass breaker is... well, a glass breaker. It does what it says, and if you clock someone in the head with it, they're going to run away crying, so, good defense tool. The pen insert writes great, or you can always swap it out for your favorite style or color. The threading and overall craftsmanship is solid, and the stylus is a good weight. Not heavy, not overly light. The clip is sturdy and removable. Some reviews I've seen on YouTube say you can rotate the clip 180 degrees so that it is on the other side, but they obviously didn't actually attempt this because the clip does NOT rotate. There is a groove that it slips into, and this does not work if you rotate the clip to the other side. When it comes to the clip, it's the stylus' way or the highway. That's actually my only gripe, as the clip is kind of in the way when using the stylus. The problem is one side of the stylus has a flat notch about an inch long where your thumb can rest comfortably. The only problem is the clip is in the way of the other fingers. If I could just rotate the clip, it would be perfect. You can remove the clip altogether, but then you run the risk of losing the stylus. One other thing, and this is just a nitpick, I guess, but the clip is not on the cap, it's connected to the pen itself. This means when you put the cap on top of the stylus while writing, the clip is in the middle of the pen with the cap jutting upward, and it just looks odd. Not a big deal, but not ideal either.Overall, I love this stylus and would recommend it.

Best tactical pen on Amazon, period.
There maybe other tactical pens out there, and I've tried a few. What was always frustrating about the others is one cannot use their mobile device with the other pens. This one has a high quality fabric "thumb" cushion / cap which serves as a dual purpose: it can be used to operate a mobile device and it also serves as a thumb cushion when used in reverse-grip tactical mode. It isn't some cheap piece of rubber on the cap that will disintegrate after a few stabs. It seems to be a very high quality, durable material. Balance is also a very important feature for a tactical pen, and this one seems extremely nimble in the hand. Any martial artist will appreciate the striking potential of this pen. The pen itself seems to be made of very high-quality aluminium. This pen will be with me for a very long time! It writes pretty well, too!!Update: Atomic Bear customer service is stellar. The o-rings came off during training (one of my “pen-fighting” sessions) and I couldn’t find them. Atomic Bear sent me out a replacement pen NEXT DAY! Thanks a million!

Excellent Pen, ink cartridges not so sturdy
So this is a very comfortable defense pen. The pen itself feels very solid and sturdy but isn’t overly bud it or awkward like most others. I wear an electrical pouch for easy access to strippers, knives and such and it fits well as long as being comfortable to wear in your regular pocket. It writes very smooth and feels like a quality pen. The only issue I’ve noticed is twice now I’ve dropped the pen by missing my pocket, so maybe a 2-2 1/2 foot fall and both times this has rendered the ink cartridge useless. It won’t write consistently anymore after what seems like any sort of drop. It does come with 2 replacement refills so that helps but I suggest being careful with it. Overall well worth the price

Atomic Bear does it again
Its the smallest pen Atomic Bear offers, thus its the most portable. I think its odd the stylus cover snaps on, not screws on to the top; but it seems to hold well.( lest you have huge hands that would squeeze it off in use.) Atomic Bear is a quality product, so I'm not at all concerned. The stylus works so well, I'm puzzled by the negatives regarding it in the reviews. All in all, a solid tactical pen.Update: Be watchful. The O ring that holds the stylus tip on top when using the pen can slip off kind of easily; BUT; with the handy dandy lifetime warranty, Atomic Bear will gladly send you replacement O rings. It also occurs that in future Defender updates, AB might consider the following:perhaps marry the stylus tip and tungsten tip and make them accessible with the " unscrew and flip as with the MTP-6. Reason being the current position of the glass break/defense tip on Defender is difficult at best

ink
I loved it but the ink stopped working after a few uses. So I cant return it and threw it away.Handled well though for the few times i used it. NEW>>>>the company contacted me and graciously sent me a new one which I was very impressed with. But the same thing happened just now with the new one. I am writing important notes and the ink just runs out. I have not even had it a week. I cannot depend on it. I truly wanted to love it. It handles well but what is a pen that runs out of ink every other sentence you use it? I will probably end up tossing this one away as well as what good is it? I am very sorry, but that is the true honest experience which exact thing happened twice. NEW NEW....Got a replacement ink stick and now it works and I love it. Great pen with a refill exchange.

Great Price, Bad Build Quality
This review is based on 5-6 months of everyday carry use. I always keep a pen on me since you never know when you, or someone else, will need one. This made me decide to search for the best EDC (Everyday Carry) pen I could find that has a reasonable price. The Atomic Bear Defender pen had great reviews, affordable pricing, a stylus, and was built “tough”. This met pretty much every want/need I had in a pen so I purchased it. Upon first opening the pen I was really surprised and impressed! It came with ink refills and seemed like a really solid pen.I replaced my plastic pen I carry and started carrying the Defender. Here is where my trouble began… The first month my ink cartridge stopped working as normal so I replaced it with an included refill. Well the refill didn’t work so I tried the second included refill and it did work. I figure it’s just a cheap refill or random defect and move on.The second month I started heavily using the pen daily. I quickly realized how uncomfortable it is to write with this pen during long periods. There is no rubber finger rest, no support of any kind, just slick surface area to hold onto. If you plan to use this pen often I would say move on to a different pen. The next issue I encountered was the stylus tip constantly unscrewed itself in my pocket. Every time I went to use it I had to tighten it before I could do anything. Sometimes it would just fall off in my pocket or fly across a room when I pulled the pen out.Lastly this pen uses a rubber o-ring on one end to hold the cap while in use. After 2-3 months of use my rubber o-ring came off in my pocket twice. Then one day it just disappeared and I could no longer stick the cap on the pen while in use. This issue and the multiple other issues I experienced eventually caused me to discontinue use of the Atomic Bear Defender. It’s not a bad pen for the price but you get what you pay for. Do yourself a favor and spend the extra money on a better pen or buy something cheaper. A cheap alternative that’s very reliable is the Pilot G-2 Penstylus. I currently stick with the Pilot for everyday carry and it’s never failed me unless it ran out of ink. Overall the Atomic Bear Defender is a decent pen and likely a good gift for others. If you want something good for everyday carry or need reliability I suggest you look elsewhere.TLDR: It’s an okay pen but you get what you pay for. Do yourself a favor and spend the extra money to buy something better or spend less and stick with plastic.

2 yrs later
ive had this pen for 2 yrs. minor wear mars around clip. cap still seals well. how do i know ive sent it through the wash machine several times by accident! writes perfectly. light and comfortable in pocket. i am a mechanic so ive laid on it sat on it may even have used it as a pin! the pen is still working great.know for my one problem i tore the stylus end. not the end of the world but the reason i purchased this pen. i use the stylus on our HMI when my hands are dirty. so ive been looking for a replacement end and cant find one. Will be purchasing a new pen momentarily. yes the same one i broke. yes inspite of the one flaw no other pen i have owned has survived this long with the punishment i inflict on them.

Sehr guter Stift
