I use a product called "Bar Keeper's Friend" (available through Amazon) to scrub it clean every week or so. **Q: How long is the shaft below the handgrip? How far down will it reach to push food to disposal?** A: When sitting in the sink, it rests on the 6 'extensions'/ protrusions around the base of handle so teh top extends out for easy grip. The actual shaft extends 8cm into the drain of the sink. (this is how far down to push food). I can run the garbage disposal with the stuffer in place.The whole length is 13.5 cm, but only 8cm goes inside the drain. **Q: what to do about the water that gets inside** A: The water doesn't "get inside." Our Super Stuffer was packaged with water already inside it, presumably to weight it down. When, inevitably, the top popped off the SS after several years, we replaced the water inside with pea gravel.
