Anyway, I rigged it up for catching Tench in a very weedy water, that needs a bit more grunt to get a heavy float rig and a giant prawn out 20 yards or so. I had 10lb Berkley Whiplash braid as mainline, and 6lb flurocarbon hooklink. The cast and controlling the rig ready to cast was smooth and simple, and when eventually I hooked two 4lb Tench, I needed to bully them a bit, the rod coped amicably. A nice smooth bend with a bit more power than a normal match rod, I had total confidence in the rod and pleased with its performance. It is a little heavier than the Drennan that was twice the price, but it wasn’t even a consideration on the bank. The reel seat held the reel firmly as expected, it has lined rings so very smooth. Is it value for money. YES. Absolutely no problem, if I get a season or 2 out of it, I will be more than happy with it. Review: Carbon Float Rod - More of a Match rod, and action not as through as I would have liked for the Carp Lake. But great price and nice and light. Our carp lake is quite young so will be great when I am floating the margins. Does cast well. Personally I can't believe the prices for carbon rods these days. As a three piece is easy to transport but this always sacrifices the through action.
