How can I verify the Thunderbolt 4 connection is operating at its maximum speed?

Look for the Thunderbolt connection details, which should indicate the current link speed (for example, 40Gbps). If the link speed is lower than expected, ensure that you are using a Thunderbolt 4 cable and that your device supports Thunderbolt 4.

Can I extend over two additional external displays?

Yes, but the host device must support MST and one of the display output ports must be the Thunderbolt 4 port for compatible Mac and Linux systems. You can add up to three displays with a compliant windows system.

I have a Mac with an Apple silicon M1 or M2 chip and can only get a single external display to work. Is this expected?

Yes, it's expected. Apple computers with M1 and M2 chips only support a single external display due to their inherent hardware design limitations. Dual display output is not supported on these specific models.

Why isn't my display output reaching 144Hz?

To achieve 4K at 144Hz, the device as well as the adapter must be Thunderbolt 4 compatible, and the connection must be through Thunderbolt 4
