Works amazingly at first. Then you get used to it

I’m always weary about supplements in general because they can make all sorts of claims and aren’t FDA-approved. But I’ve been quite seriously depressed after a breakup and gave this a chance… I’m incredibly glad I did. I only take one daily in the morning (recommended dose is 2/day) and I noticed a difference within just a few days. I’ve been more optimistic and happier overall. I really couldn’t be more grateful for this stuff because when I tried Prozac years ago, it just made me apathetic. Of course, take all of these reviews with a grain of salt because everyone’s brain chemistry is different. That being said, if you want the best chance at this working for you… the study which proved 5-HTP to be about as effective as prescription SSRI’s had its subjects take it 2x/day and alongside creatine. Definitely consider buying that too if you’re using this for depression. And I know it’s a tired disclaimer but seriously talk to your doctor if you take any other medications. 5-HTP isn’t as reactive as St John’s Wort, but it can still contribute to serotonin toxicity syndrome with other meds. Anyway. It tastes alright too, the citrus comes through with a slightly bitter aftertaste. And it’s chalky of course but it’s fine after a sip of water.

Chalky taste but great product if you have amino mutations and can't sleep, makes you much less tired than l tryptophan itself! Also more rapid and intense. just one will knock you out if you're sensitive. Almost as hard as Ambien. Also good for PTSD related depression I highly recommend with some chelated magnesium if your looking to get a good night's sleep and feel better mentally! Be slightly cautious if you have cardiac issues though. You may want to monitor your vitals for the first few night's

These have a decent orange taste. Not chalky, and they dissolve quickly (they’re chewable). I take these mostly for emotional/mood support, but they really help my husband and I have quality sleep as well.

I bought this bottle of chewable 5-HTP and normally take a tablet in the morning and evening in conjunction with Ashwagandha. I can't swallow pills-- that's the only reason I bought the chewable version. Do yourself a favor, if you can swallow pills with ease, get a tablet or veg capsule. The taste is absolutely awful. Additionally, due to my having read many comments about 5-HTP, I've always been very careful to take it with food and never on an empty stomach. I once did, however, absentmindedly take one of these in the morning before I had breakfast, and good god was I reeling in pain. It was awful. Only after drinking a glass of water did I mercifully throw up and feel better. In short, I don't know if it was the 5-HTP that made me feel so awful or the formulation of the tablets, but I will not be buying this product again. I believe in 5-HTP and know it helps, but I'm going to go with another brand that doesn't make me gag.

Thank you so much for sleep, really really really good sleep! My head doesn't turn off at night, so I started taking Neuro Sleep, which worked really well, but it is expensive. So I picked this up, read how to use it and started taking one, one hour before I would normally go to bed. Take it when you are relaxing and don't need to get up and do anything, I watch some TV or read, it works pretty well at helping me turn off. If it doesn't work well for you, try the 5htp with melatonin.
