AMAZING VALUE
I needed some JetBlack dye right away to finish a bedspread. The price was a couple of dollars more than my usual source, but with free shipping, it was worth it. I was amazed when I got the shipment. There were 3 jars in the box. 3!!! That makes them half the price of my usual source. For those who complain that it does not work, look up the manufacturers recommendation of amount to use. For most colors, 1 gram for 100 g of fiber is about right. For deeper colors, use 2 or 3 times that amount. For jet black, 4 gram is recommended. Heat just below boiling for 30 min. It works perfectly on the fibers I have tried--merino wool, alpaca. nylon, bamboo, cashmere, and silk--if you follow the directions. In fiber blends, only the natural fibers will dye, so 40% wool and 60% acrylic may look splotchy.

Worked greatest on nylon
Color was great for some OD green nylon being changed to Black. Just followed directions for temp and acid and dye took well and is color fast in a wash.

Nice dark color.
Really like this black as well as the Dharma counterpart. It does take some practice to get a nice deep black but definitely worth the patience. Takes a bit to exhaust but that’s expected of darker colors.

Its ok
I am not sure how well these sorts of dyes are supposed to work, but for me it did not work as well as I had expected. I wanted to dye an obnoxiously bright blue cashmere sweater and apparently *this* type of acid dye is supposed to work. I followed the instructions, initially using only about half the contents of the container on the stovetop (I do not have an in-house washing machine). It worked, but it didn't. I still could see a few blue patches. Ok then, let's try again but stir it twice as much. I did, and while now the coloring was even, the blue was still present. However, it is definitely a wearable blue. It is a black with a blue sheen, if that makes sense. I much more toned town blue-black perhaps? But, it is not black-black as I was hoping. However, I am not totally dissatisfied with the sweater. I will definitely wear it now, versus before when it just took up space in my closet. So, overall it "works" but it won't completely take the previous coloring out of whatever material you are dying (cashmere in my experience).

Beautiful
I had to use a lot of this to get really black results, but the color is rich, and stays in the fiber with fixing. I have purchased more of this brand since then and have been very pleased.

Works incredibly well on silk. I have two light ...
Works incredibly well on silk. I have two light silvery grey pillowcases that I wanted to dye to a darker charcoal grey, and after reading some reviews, I thought using a smaller amount of black dye would work well. Some of the reviews for the Jet Black color say that it doesn't take very well - I suspect that the people using may not be aware of the true fiber content of what they're dying. This dye only works well on natural fibers - the color took to my 100% silk pillowcases in a couple minutes. The directions state to stir it for approx 30 min for the stove top dying method - I left them in for about 10 minutes because I wanted charcoal rather than deep black. I still got deep black with the shorter amount of time, and the tags and stitching on the pillowcases are completely unaffected by the dye because they are polyester. If you're getting splotchy results, your fabric may not be 100% natural fibers. Rinse well after dying, the fabric will bleed quite a bit.

If you're not proficient in garment dyeing, don't bother.
Dye just wouldn't hold in a 100% wool scarf, ended up just looking stained. The scarf was a darker shade of brown to begin with and I couldn't even get it to a washed out-looking black, I followed the direction and even did it twice. Incidentally the dye did dye the polyester tag. I don't know what went wrong but this ended up being a huge, messy waste of time.

I opened this and the bottles outside was covered with tiny spots of red. I've not had an acid dye that has separated like this. My gloves were damp, but thank god I had them on. When you add this dye to the water ,all I could see was purple. Food colouring worked better.

This item does not dye nylon as stated. Don't waste your money. Long wait for delivery.
