Perfect for a hand washing station
The first unit I got was defective. They sent out a new one and it's been working great for several months. Super happy. And the water gets very hot

Inexpensive small capacity water heater
Nice little water heater. It gives a minute or so of set temperature water and then its warm water. It does as expected. It’s a small capacity water heater and it’s heating really cold water with a single phase 20amp circuit. Easy to install as well. The adjustable set point is nice and it also displays the actual water temp. We keep it set at 120. Comes with a P&T safety valve as well.

Working beautifully for the first couple of weeks...
I installed it inline with the home hot water system and the water heater seems to be a very good unit... quick recovery, constant temperature, informative display. Yet, as other reviewers have mentioned, there seem to be some installation issues to deal with. Notably, the safety "pop-off valve." NPT threads are supposed to be tapered, increasing in diameter as the pipe is tightened to create a tight connection. But on this unit, the supplied pop-off valve has a rather long threaded shank, even with bit of a smooth material extending past the threads at the end. That wouldn't be a problem, except that the tank inlet for the valve has a pronounced inside lip at the bottom of the threaded inside threads. Thus, the valve bottoms out on the lip before the taper enters far enough to even come close to sealing. I considered remedies, other than wrapping the valve with an "ungodly" amount of Teflon tape, as some have suggested. I considered grinding off the end of the threaded valve to let it go in further, but the extended temperature probe made that impossible. Then going to the local hardware and plumbing store with the heater, hoping to be able to buy a pop-off valve that would fit better... and he DID have one, but rather expensive and relief pressure higher than the one supplied. At his suggestion, I did attempt to solve the problem by both INSERTING A RUBBER WASHER into the fitting... AND wrapping the valve with a copious amount of Teflon tape. Inserted the valve hand tight... and so far, so good. Having gotten over the little hurdle, I would buy again... providing the unit proves dependable.

Works great so far!
Easy to install and works fine still after multiple months of use. I use this for my garage sink and don't keep it set very hot. Just wanted to be able to wash my hands with warm water in the winter, which it does very well. Good value for the money. If I were installing in the house, I would recommend using some kind of pan under it with a water sensing alarm in case it ever developed a leak, which many of these inexpensive units seem to be notorious for

Leaky valve
Like many other reviews, it leaked at the safety valve. Couldn’t get it not to no matter what I tried. Not messing with the risk of a future leak, returned it

Works well and heats water quickly.
This mini tank water heater does exactly what it’s supposed to do. Water heats fast and provides instant hot water at the sink. Installation is straightforward if you have some basic plumbing knowledge. Make sure you understand the inlet/outlet connections and pressure relief setup before installing. Overall, solid performance and good value.

Initial installation and first impression.
I'm replacing an old 2.5 gallon Ariston water heater that I've used under my kitchen sink for the last 15 years. The Ariston's thermostat gave up, which was replaced once in it's lifetime, and due to it's age needed to be ordered from Ebay, which will take 2-3 weeks to get here. So I figured it might just be simpler and faster to replace the old heater. Bosch, which by my understanding is essentially the Ariston, has questionable reviews and twice the price so I thought I'd order this so I could get water in 2 days vs. waiting on the replacement thermostat. It did arrive in two days and I was surprised how light the box was. The box also appeared to have been handled roughly, and has minimal protection inside. Included was the t&p valve, a 3 way fitting, 2 hoses, mounting hardware to hang the unit if desired, and some teflon tape. The water heater is surprising light when compared to my old Ariston. I suspect this is due to the stainless steel tank vs. the glass lined one in the Ariston. The insulation on this tank is minimal, but seems to work OK. This unit does not appear to be serviceable which is one reason my Aristons (I have two) have lasted so long. Annually I would remove the element and clean it, flush the tank and replace the anode rod. I guess an anode rod isn't needed in this because of the ss tank, but flushing it annually would have to be done through the hose inlet/outlet. The included instructions don't reference any way to get inside the tank. Leaks: Several reviews complain about leaks. Mine did initially, too. But the leak is from the t&p valve fitting, not from the tank. I really, and I mean really, had to crank down on the t&p valve to stop it from leaking from the fitting. This is even after using many wraps of teflon tape. My own, not the tape provided. It's probably better to use plumber's paste instead of the tape. In use, the heater warmed up very quickly, reaching my target of 115° within 15 minutes. Comparing the indicated temperature against a reliable gauge showed it to be within 2 degrees of actual. Close enough for a water heater. My undersink water heaters are on timers that turn them off for about 10 hours overnight. This heater lost about 15 degrees overnight, so not bad. It's really nice having the temp reading on the tank for reference. Bottom line: I'm deducting two stars for the difficulty in getting the t&p valve to seal, and the quality of the shipping box. Very thin cardboard and styrofoam protection inside. I also have concerns about the long-term quality, but time will tell. I couldn't find any reference to any warranty. As for now, however, I have hot water in my sink and it's working perfectly. I guess only time will tell.
