camping and self-defense tool
This is a very useful item that will fit in most backpacking equipment bags. If you are concerned about brush on the trail as well as for self-defense it's a good sharp tool and/or weapon and fairly lightweight. These days if you read about safety while hiking from encountering animals and or dangerous people you need to have something to defend yourself in emergencies. It won't always be the best answer but I've had sprays fail from simply not working to not doing the job. It never hurts to have several ways to deal with problems when you are up against the wall. Some people carry concealed self-defense on the trail these days but you need to make sure whatever you do use for self-defense to abide by state laws and any other types of laws in parks and local areas.

Weed choppin to ya hearts content
Sturdy, swing weight is great. Curved sharp edge cuts regardless of target placement. Sheath could have used some internal reinforcement,so the metal would Not cut it inside. Would Buy

A remarkably interesting blade
I wouldn't classify this blade as a Machete since it lacks weight, and the blade design is unlike any Machette I've ever seen or used. I wouldn't call it a knife either since 15" is extremely long for a knife, even a combat knife. IMHO this is more of a short sword than either a knife or Machete so I'm going to review it as such, and yes it has made its way into my collection of swords and knives. It is lightweight with the rubber handle providing a good grip for blade control. While not at the high end of razor sharpness as delivered it did easily slice through a sheet of paper and it removed hair from my arm. That's not too shabby and a very pleasant surprise. The sheath could be better but honestly at this price having any sheath is a real bonus. The blade does catch a bit on draw but that's also something that can be remediated over time and with a wax treatment. Features vs. price this is a real value so if you need a blade of this type then I'd say GO FOR IT!

Big Enough but not heavy enough
its a good size blade, but sadly doesnt have the heft to be an efficient machete. make no mistake, its a good blade if you arent really planning on using is as a utilitarian blade
