What noise it does make does not irritate. It is at its quietest when kept reasonably full and any noise increases slightly when near empty, as you would expect. Make sure that the fridge is level with the weight resting evenly on it's four feet. This will help to dampen any slight noise. **Q: Does this fridge have alight on when opened** A: No there is no light . It is not needed if you have sufficient light in the room. Manual doesn't say if setting 1 is coldest or warmest** A: There is a pointer at one end of the control knob, clockwise increases the depth of cooling from OFF. Try it before using till you get it just to the point of cooling you require.
