Hetalia Axis Powers Volume 1: v. 1

If you've been following Himaruya back when this was a web comic, then I would recommend you buy the published books. I know Tokyo Pop have since disappeared into the void, but yeah I bought this ages ago and I've only just reviewed it now. Item arrived in great condition.

This book brings out history and injects it with humour. I would recommend it to Hetalia Fans. Arrived on time and in good condition.

Hetalia ist ein Manga für Leute, die auf Länderklischees stehen und sich auch gerne mal durch unzusammenhängende Geschichten wühlen, vor allem wenn sie - wie in diesem Band - auf englisch sind. Der Manga beginnt mit einem einwandfreien Prolog, in dem sich (fast) alle Länder dieser Welt zu einer Krisensitzung treffen. Ich war fast geschockt, als ich die perfekten Zeichnungen gesehen habe, die sogar in Farbe abgedruckt waren. Genial! Die anderen Comicstrips (mehr sind sie meist nicht) erinnern da schon mehr an einen Onlinecomic, wie Hetalia ja auch begonnen hat. Die Zeichnungen sehen aus wie mit Bleistift gezeichnet und Details gehen gerne mal etwas unter. Auch kann es vorkommen, dass von einer Seite zur anderen völlig andere Inhalte behandelt werden, aber wer diesen Manga mit Humor genießt und nicht mit akribischer Richtigkeit historischer Ereignisse und einem sehr guten Zeichenstil verwöhnt wurde, wird schnell Spaß daran finden. Ich jedenfalls habe diesen Manga sehr genossen und werde mir wahrscheinlich bald den zweiten Band dazu kaufen. Fazit: Hier wird kein Land mit seinen Eigenheiten beschönigt und man lernt sogar etwas über Bündnisse und Kriege - nur mit dem detaillierten Verlauf dessen sollte man es nicht zu ernst nehmen. Defiitiv empfehlenswert.

I've always considered myself as a great fan of this work! I've been and I'm still following this series of Hetalia and it hasn't been until now that I decided myself to buy the manga. I looked forward to have the first book of this series and woah! I simply LOVE it. I don't mind the kind of way that the author used to do this manga. I mean, though it's sketchy it's kinda cute! It's a lot worked, and it's so funny to read. You can enjoy a lot reading it and knowing all the characters bit by bit. I like the idea of the countries being representated, it's a nice idea to more or less explain some things of the history (BUT, obviously it's not all clear, you shouldn't take this as a book history). I recommend this to anyone who wants to laugh a little with trivial sometimes non-sense humor but always associated in a comical way with countries history and culture. (But stay back if you're a very sensitive person about your country) In a few words, so happy with it. :)
