Good quality, fun STEM build.
This was a really fun build for my 9 year old and I. The parts fit together well, the instructions were easy to follow, and my son could do most of it himself.

Well designed kit that is fun to assemble and functional.
Fun kit to assemble into a functional bombard. Pieces are precision cut for a nice fit.

Great gift idea - horrific shipping method
This item is amazing. It's going to take some time to put together but it looks fun. I am giving 3 stars because of the shipping. A shipping label was slapped on the top of this box and shipped. It was a gift. Amazon is almost always in a box or an envelope. My husband, to whom the gift was for, brought the package in and saw it before his birthday. Disappointing. AND even more so, we can't peel the label off so the box is ruined ..... we can't see the front of the box.

Educational and fun imagination
Exciting fun with building this with my grandchildren. We did our research first on what the product was used for, when it was used, and who invented the product. Then we made a game out of shooting the balls through a hoop.

Cool idea, functional.
Fun to use! And for assembly, glue and patience are required.

Lovely, Classic Design
I love a good contraption model and this one is by the master of contraptions, Leonardo di ser Piero da Vinci. It's a bombard type of siege cannon with a massive bore meant to knock huge holes in fortifications so the troops can move in. The model is made of pre-stamped balsa wood making it a really simple build you just need to be careful when removing the pieces so you won't have to fill in any nicks or notches with the provided glue. It says to do that in the instructions, instructions that I quickly warmed to as they're written in a very conversational manner and clearly describing what to do in words, if not always in the diagrams specifically. A fun little feature of the model is that it has a rubber band in it that lets you weakly plop one of the balls out of the mouth of the bombard. That amuses me.

Fun, but directions not easy to follow
Looks like it will be nice when finished. 10 and 15 year old found directions difficult to follow. Otherwise, it may have received higher rating
