Within 20 minutes of cleaning iron/steel on pure white metal, which is only possible with an acid immersion bath, the corrosion process has already begun again. When you encapsulate rust, it is always ultimately the winner, so the only option left is to remove both the existing corrosion and future sources of corrosion. The Fertan rust converter was successfully developed for precisely this purpose. It always works. When Fertan is applied to a surface, it eats through the corrosion and reaches the clean metal beneath. It knows and precipitates enough material to create a coating of zinc phosphate. This protects the clean metal from the outside world. The corrosion over the zinc phosphate layer is a complicated mixture of iron oxide, air, water and pollutants such as mineral salts and acids. The iron oxide component is useful, and the chemicals contained in Fertan combine with the oxide, producing two main compounds, hopeite Zn3 PO4 .2 and phosphophyllite Zn2FE PO4 4h20. These form a corrosion-free layer over the zinc phosphate. All pollutants are pushed outwards where they form a dust that is wiped off the surface. The resulting layers bond firmly to the metal. Once the conversion process is complete, everything is corrosion-free and can also be painted in the future. The surface treated with Fertan is viewed as a clean and rust-free metal by paints and coatings. Surfaces treated with Fertan are suitable for coatings from any manufacturer.
