Perfect Add-On for Your Detector!!
This hardwire kit is a solid upgrade. Install was straightforward, and once itโs in, everything looks cleaner, no more cords hanging around. The mute/mark button is super convenient, and the LED alerts are clear without being distracting. Power is consistent and reliable, and it integrates perfectly with the detector. It just works, no issues, no fuss. If you want a cleaner setup with added control, this is 100% worth it.

Clean Install and Works Perfectly
This hardwire kit worked exactly as I hoped. It made installing my radar detector look much cleaner since I didn't have a power cord hanging down the windshield. The mute button and LED are convenient to have within reach, and everything was straightforward to install. After using it for a while, it's been completely reliable with no issues. If you're planning to hardwire your Uniden radar detector, I'd definitely recommend this kit.

Good to have
easy to install and mount. Quality is good and almost everything is provided unless you need a fuse tap for it for a cleaner install. It's a 2 wire install one for the source and one for the ground and walla you have a power source and remote mute for your uniden radar detector.

Works With My New R7 Radar Detector
I spent a little time and effort hiding wires and making good connections inside the dash, then mounted the little box in a discrete spot with the double-sided tape and no wires showing. The kit has a fuse in the power lead in case I made a mistake or something gets damaged. I'd previously added a tap for accessory wires connected to the power outlet in the dash, but the much smaller wire in the kit needs an appropriately-sized fuse to protect it. The cable for the detector is easily long enough to reach across to route up inside the A-pillar trim and access to the center over the mirror if needed. My nothing-showing stealth dash mount has most of that wire coiled up safely inside the dash itself. It's there ready should I change my mind. The good news -- It works as expected. There's a power LED, plus an activity LED indicator. I have yet to try the 'mute' button, since I'm going through the initial steps of driving around and letting the R7 learn and memorize the local radar speed signs. Even with the latest version of Uniden's location database, there are still some local sources that are getting discovered and memorized. Bottom line is that all seems to be working the way it's intended. The package comes with a pad of 3M double-side foam tape for mounting. My long-term success with using it to hold things in a hot (or seriously cold) car interior is mixed at best, So far so god in the first few weeks of fall weather. The little box doesn't readily split open, so there are limited options for a more secure mounting method. I have the little wire bundle passing through a not-quite-large enough relief in a trim panel, so it's pinched tightly but not enough to damage the wires. That's carrying most of the strain, so the tape just needs to support it enough to keep it from rotating. FWIW, I'm not at all afraid of DIY projects, including fabricating my own custom gadgets. That said, I just couldn't justify gathering the internal parts and pieces needed to build one of these custom for the car. Rather, this one fits with no modification to the car itself, so it will come out if/when needed leaving no evidence it was ever installed. For those reasons, this is a very good value for me.

Best Option Available for Hardwiring your Uniden R3, thus far.
Like that I was able to hardwire the uniden and be able to have access to the mute button in a different location than the radar or cigarette plug. What I wasnโt a fan of is the quality of the included wire taps that came with it. There are better ones available that are still plenty cheap. The ground wire wasnโt even considered for a wire tap (expecting you to mount with a screw based on the end piece). To solve the ground wire issue and keep it clean, the wires I tapped into, i locates a ground wire and used my own tap. Lastly, I wish they had given a little more length to the phone/power cord. I was fortunate to make it work with about 6inches left over; however, I chose not to hard wire into the courtesy lamps/map lamps common just above the rear view mirror; as I would have had to splice longer power and ground wires to place the mute button in a location of my choice. I spliced into wires under the dash and ran the phone power cord behind everything (use zip ties to keep it clean and secured to factory pre-run wiring) and then ran the cord up along the โA-trimโ and then just inside the headliner to end right at the rear view mirror, where my Uniden is mounted. For what itโs worth, this is still a very viable solution for hard wiring in your uniden. No more unplugging the power cord to open up a power source for charging other electronics. It looks clean without having wires dangling from the windshield in front of the radio/vents, etc. This is the best option Uniden offers right now for hardwiring your detector in. The price is quite comparable to what you get in the kit. Itโd recommend it to anyone who wants to hardwire their detector and forego the coiled factory power plug.

Hardwiring looks best!
Its my opinion that hardwiring and attaching the radar detector from the rearview mirror looks best. Its a much cleaner look. Plus, mounting the remote mute button in a convenient place is also nice. I had my local stereo shop do the installation because I didn't want to deal with the door pins on my new Porsche. Of course the detector turns on and off with the vehicle and everything looks good and works well!

A must have for Uniden Detectors
East to route with lots of length of wire to put through your vehicle. It came with everything you need to hardwire it into the car (mine jumps off a fuse in the dash) and mount the button where you want. This is perfect to tuck away where you can easily see it when the radar goes off. Or perfect for the passenger that wants it to shutup more than you. This is a MUST if you have a uniden radar detector. Definitely recommend Pros -cheap -lots of length -has lights to show radar detection -small enough to hide, big enough to see Cons -uses velcro to mount button, hardware would be nicer

Nice addition
I bought two of these this for the R8 one for the bike, one for the car. I disliked having the power cable dangling from the mirror to the 12V plug. Nice clean installation. I actually hid mute/alert box as I didn't need it in the vehicle. It is useful though on the bike because of my riding position, I cannot see the display on the unit.

Price of kit should include all pieces - missing fuse tap
The kit should include all pieces with he price it is. Had to purchase a fuse tap. Easy to install and hide the wires. Price is a bit high for what you get. Otherwise good product and decent quality.
