worth it!
my birdbath water seems to stay fresher, no mosquitos, and more bird traffic and activity. Not at all hard to assemble, and the battery has lasted well.

Works as intended, but birds aren't so sure
Works as intended but the birds aren't fans, ha ha. I have a fairly large-diameter plastic heated birdbath from WBU the birds drank from and bathed in all winter. When I unplugged the heating element I knew I needed to get something for the hot summer months and the solar type would not necessarily constantly work. It took me just a day or two to realize I had to move this way over to the side so the birds had most of the room still available. It wiggles sufficiently from that position and a few birds will get in. It hasn't discouraged drinking from the edge. I am still pleased with the purchase and will replace with the same if it becomes necessary. It just has been interesting to see the birds' reaction.

YOU NEED TO GET A WATER WIGGLER!!
A water wiggler is a requirement for a well functioning bird bath. 1. It runs constantly so that mosquitoes can't land on the water surface to lay eggs - this is a great thing. I saw another review say that this was a downside and they'd prefer a solar fountain to move the water instead. I'm here to tell you - I've had multiple solar fountains over the years. They require eay more upkeep to keep clean and because they can only run when the panel is hot by direct sunlight, they of course stop the water flow for about 2/3 of the day total, resulting in the perfect, stagnant breeding pool for mosquitoes. 2. Moving water attracts birds to drink and bathe way more than stagnant, still water. You WILL get much more bird activity at your bath with this device as opposed to a solar fountain because this one works 24/7. 3. Batteries (not included) are simple to install. I literally change the batteries like once every 6 months. I buy cheap $3 panasonic D batteries at a local discount store and they last forever. 4. Waterproofness - So long as you have properly tightened the gold screw on top to seal the top, it's extremely waterproof. Multiple times over the years, raccoons (I assume?) have tipped the wiggler over overnight, resulting in it being on its side - no damage, works perfectly, just set it back upright. 5. Metal legs - are the metal legs slightly annoying to install? A little. But believe me - it's 0 challenge compared to the YEARS of use you'll get out of this. I've gotten 3 over the years for multiple baths so far. The legs are a total nonissue so long as you simply follow the directions and don't fly off the handle at the SLIGHTEST inconvenience. I LOVE WATER WIGGLERS. EVERYONE SHOULD HAVE THEM FOR THEIR BIRD BATHS. THEY'RE SIMPLY INCREDIBLE, they WORK to prevent mosquito larvae and attract birds!

Good bird bath agitator, 2+ year life expectancy
Update: The Wiggler would not spin, even with new batteries. So I dissembled it, even removed the small motor from the plastic base. All soldered wire connections were sound. However, the springs for the negative (flat) side of the batteries are just crimped onto a metal bar. With a pair of plies I squeezed those crimps to tighten those electrical connections. I also lightly scrubbed the Wiggler battery terminals and the batteries themselves with an abrasive pad (ScotchBright). Then I reassembled the Wiggler and installed the batteries. >> It spun << Lastly I put some light-weight penetrating oil on the shaft of the motor that comes through the bottom of the plastic bottom. I ran the Wiggler upside down overnight so the oil could well lubricate the motor shaft. The next morning, I put the still spinning Wiggler in the bird bath. That was 2 weeks ago. The Wiggler has been spinning continuouslyโ24 hrs a dayโfor the past two weeks. Original Review: The Wiggler works quite well. The moving water attracts the birds and keeps the mosquitoes at away. // We've gone through 4 Wigglers over the past decade. They last about 2+ years (16-18 months, no winter usage) at which pointโwith fresh batteriesโthe motor doesn't have enough umph to spin the agitator. This year I got a couple more months of operation by putting some light lubricant on the motor shaft that sticks out from the bottom and running the Wiggler inside down (away from water) for a night to distribute the lubricant. // Agree with earlier commenter about the leakage around the top screw. I've found water inside the housing when replacing batteries. So I used dielectric grease (like that used to lubricate faucets) on the screw hole. // As for battery life, having tried several options, we've landed on using alkaline D cells; they tend to last late Spring though early Fall. Tried rechargeable NiMH D cells but the Wiggler stops spinning within a couple of weeks.

Caulk the screw to extend its life
Just over a year ago, I decided to give the water wiggler a try for my bird bath. A year later, I'm not only still using it, but I've just ordered a second one for my other birdbath. That's a testament to its durability and value in my book. It's also worth mentioning that before I settled on this battery-powered water wiggler, I tried a couple of the solar-powered models. Unfortunately, they just didn't hold a candle to this one. With the solar models, I found they were too inconsistent, often not working when there was even the slightest cloud cover or shade. They also seemed less durable overall, struggling with any kind of fluctuation in weather. In contrast, the battery-powered water wiggler has worked dependably regardless of the weather or season. Even in the heart of winter, it kept the water moving, which was a big hit with the birds. So if you're debating between solar or battery-powered, based on my experience, I'd definitely suggest going with the battery-powered model. Now, I will say that while the device has proven to be surprisingly resilient, it's not without its flaws. The main issue is the water leakage through the top screw. This would make me hesitate to label the wiggler as completely waterproof. However, a bit of DIY ingenuity fixed this issue for me. I applied a small amount of caulk to the screw, and it's been smooth sailing (or should I say wiggling) ever since. I donโt think itโs worth subtracting a whole star for this, given how much better this one is compared to others on the market. But Iโd give it a 4.8 if I could. One unexpected advantage I've noticed is the cleanliness of my birdbath water. I was initially interested in the wiggler for the birds' enjoyment, but it turns out this gadget also keeps the water fresher for longer. The constant movement inhibits the growth of mosquitoes and slows the accumulation of other detritus, which is a win in my book. In terms of bird enjoyment, there was a noticeable increase once the local birds got accustomed to the new water dynamics. It's been a pleasure to watch them frolicking and splashing about more energetically. In conclusion, despite a minor waterproofing issue, the water wiggler has proven to be a beneficial addition to my bird baths. I recommend it for anyone who enjoys watching birds and wants to maintain a cleaner birdbath with less effort. Just keep in mind, you may need a little caulk on hand to ensure the longest life for your wiggler.

Better than a fountain!
After two months of the birds ignoring this bath that had a solar powered fountain, I broke down and decided to try the Water Wiggler. Between the shade and the bird's disinterest, I was pretty unhappy with solar. The proposed battery life is good, I'll have to wait and see how accurate it is. Birds started using the bath the very next day after I put it in. Hard to complain when it immediately gave me results. Definitely pricy for what it is. But anything designed and made well is going to be. If this lasts 5+ years, I'll be quite pleased. I hope eventually they will make one in a material that isn't plastic, but I'm sure that would make more expensive too. Good luck with your birds! My Steller's Jays love this thing.

Not worth the price - lasts about 2 years
I have purchased 3 of these over the past 6 years. They last about 2 years (but are not used in winter around here because it's too cold). The last one I got, an animal ran off with the wiggler mechanism - a small plastic piece - shortly after I bought it. I contacted the company and they wanted a ridiculous price to replace it ($20+). I was able to gerryrig my own replacement with the help of a 3D printer. But I was very disappointed that the company was unreasonable. since I had purchased their product 3 times. I won't buy it again at this point - too expensive and they don't care about their customer.

Terrific product
I have a smaller pedestal bird bath which the birds weren't using or perhaps recognizing until I purchased this product and put it in there. It moves the as described. Delivery was fast. Since then the birds can't stay away from it. So far it has been running non stop for over a week on the same batteries. The birds love it and I love watching them enjoy it.

Perfect to keep the water moving in my birdbath
I needed something to keep mosquitos from hatching but it had to be an item that would not spray the water out of the birdbath. It also had to be small enough to allow the visiting birds to use the bath. the birdbath is a little over 2 feet in diameter. Another hurdle for me was that the birdbath is in shade much of the day so a solar wiggler would not be a good choice. This device works well and the D batteries last at least a week or more, working 24 hours a day. Changing them is also easy. I am pleased with this solution to my problem.

... died after many summers so I thought it was good enough to replace
Already had one and the little motor died after many summers so I thought it was good enough to replace. It stops the mosquitoes from hatching in the bird bath and makes a wave that catches the eye of the birds. All good.
