Made to fit a Jet but adapted to Rikon 1516VSR
Used this stand for a Rikon 1516VSR wood lathe. Used two pieces of 3/4" plywood to make adapters. Worked out very well. The stand is stable, well made, easy to assemble, and nicely finished. Itʻs a good size for a mid-sized lathe.

Sturdy, well made
The stand fits the Jet lathe perfectly. It is stable, it doesn't move or shift when I'm turning but I'm also not turning giant burl pieces. Side tool holder could be improved a little but the basket beneath is handy. Excellent pairing w/ the 1221 VS lathe.

Solid Stand - Just not for me
While this is a great lathe stand for the Jet 1221VS, it's not for me. Once assembled, it is rock-solid. Adjusting for as low as the lathe will sit on the platform, it is just right. However, I'm limited in space in the shop and place all machinery on portable stands with locking wheels. Hence, with my arm at a 90-degree angle, it is too tall (I'm a shorty) and have to lift my shoulders to an uncomfortable level. I returned it and will build a stand to meet my needs. The lathe is a good lathe and I'm glad I purchased it (not from here).

Glad I didn’t build one!
I decided no purchase the stand over building one. Very glad I did. The stand takes up little room, it is very stable, and was easy to assemble. The footprint of the stand is fairly small, I really doubt that a diy stand would be as compact. The price was a little higher than I would have expected, and I could have saved a few bucks building a stand, but I have been totally satisfied.

I'm happy.
I'm glad I purchased this for my Jet 12-21 lathe. It fits like a glove and looks great. I put wheels on the bottom and can easily move it around my garage. This was faster and more professional looking than what I would have put together. With the price of lumber today, it may be close value-wise in the long run.
