POWRUI Surge Protector, USB Wall Charger with 2 USB Charging Ports(Smart 2.4A Total), 6-Outlet Extender and Top Phone Holder for Your Cell Phone, White, ETL Listed

I bought 10 of these and they arrived last night. Other plug extenders I looked at did not screw on or were more expensive and I needed something more economical since I need so many of them (I still need 15 more!) When I was looking for this item, it was imperative that I get ones that could screw into the outlet. I installed 7 of them immediately. They are so simple to install! Time will tell if I encounter any problems that other reviewers have had (losing power, overheating, etc.), but so far I love them. Here are a few fixes for some of the bad/mediocre reviews. Mind you, I'm in the US, so these fixes may not work in other countries: I read reviews that say they are top heavy. I don't seem to have that problem because I screwed them into the outlet for stability. Most standard outlets in the US have a center hole to screw a cover on over the outlet and housing. This screw goes right into that hole. I read reviews that said it only fit upside down. All my outlets are right side up, so it was not a problem for me. (If you have that problem, just turn your outlet right side up. It was apparently installed upside down.) I saw some reviews that said the plastic stabilizier didn't fit. If you are using the screw to hold it in the outlet, just cut it off. It's only there to stabilize it. It serves no other function. I read reviews that said it's wobbly after being installed using the screw. A couple of mine did that. I just tightened up the outlet itself and that seemed to fix the problem. As I said, time will tell if I have problems, but so far these are EXACTLY what I wanted! I've added the other 15 that I still need to my list in the hope that I get more at Christmas!

I love it

I love the two USB plug-ins plus the six outlets. This is an outlet splitter/surge protector that I would recommend to others if I had the chance. It does pair well with an (a single) extension cord surge protector for when you have items that can not be near the wall. I got it for dorm life because the dorm building I live in only has 3 outlets in each room and when two people expicaly girls are sharing that you will run out quick. I will definitely buy again whether that is to replace this one when it hits the end of the recommended life span (Surge protectors work about 7 years on average to protect items and around half of that if there is frequent power outages), if I decide to get one for every outlet in my bedroom at home with my parents, or for a future apartment/house when I eventually move out on my own years from now.

In general, this is a great surge protector with the bonus of having 2 USB charging ports included. Two major downsides for me are: (1) The casing is not designed to fit flush against the wall, leaving a visible gap around the edges of the surge protector between it and the wall, and (2) The surge protector is designed to fit over both electrical outlet plugs in a standard outlet, but the surge protector only plugs into the receptacle of one outlet and then has a small plastic nub that fits into the bottom outlet rather than plugging into both and utilizing the electrical connections of both outlets. I have an older model that plugs into both outlets and fits flush against the wall, making it much sturdier, cosmetically smooth and seamless, and half of the expansion outlets in the older model are powered by each of the two outlets in the receptacle rather than all of them being powered by (and anchored into) just one of the wall receptacle plugs. Although the surge protector bolts into the wall socket/receptacle, the fact that it is not flush to the wall combined with not being plugged fully into both outlets of the wall receptacle leaves it slightly loose, and you must be extra careful unplugging appliances from the surge protector. I place one hand against the surge protector cover to hold it firmly in place while I unplug the cord(s) I want to disconnect. Having an older model that plugs into both outlets and bolts flush to the wall set a great standard that I have not been able to find again. Maybe I'm being nitpicky, but I know this surge protector COULD be better if designed to improve the two mentioned weaknesses. Otherwise, I like it enough that I purchased two more for other locations where family members often vie for access to charge their electronic devices, or where they kept unplugging lamps, landline phones, and other stationary electrical devices to charge their phones or tablets. These provide many more outlets in the same location and the capability to plug in USB cords directly instead of bulky adapters, and no one has a good excuse to unplug the lamps, alarm clock, or landline telephone charger.

Reading through the reviews here, it seems as if Amazon has merged reviews for two different products from the same manufacturer. I have several of both products shown in the photos. I read some folks complain about the product not being snugly affixed to a wall outlet. We do not have that problem. As shown in photo #1, there is no space between the surge protector and the wall socket. We affixed the unit to the outlet using the long screw provided. BUT, you should note how these things work. This is attached, via that screw, to the wall outlet, and the wall outlet needs to be affixed firmly to the electrical box in which it resides. If you take off the wall outlet cover and there is play in the outlet itself, tighten it. Then place the cover and the surge protector over the outlet and affix the long screw through both into the outlet. The more firmly seated the outlet in the box, the firmer the surge protector and outlet cover plate will be. The other product is shown in photo #2. I purchased this product specifically because it only uses one, not two, plugs. As you can see in the last photo, this single gang outlet is on our kitchen island counter side, and so I needed an extension device to provide more outlets than the single plug. This device does NOT have a screw to affix it to the outlet behind it, so yes you have to be careful in unplugging devices from it else you can pull it out of the outlet. On the flip side of the coin, this surge protector is rotatable so you can rotate it 90 degrees clockwise or counterclockwise to have the surge protector horizonal, and you can even rotate it a full 180 degrees so that it is vertical with the USB ports facing down toward the floor. Why would anyone want to do this? If those USB ports are not in use, you can accumulate dust if they are facing UP. Each of these surge protectors work well and have their benefits and drawbacks. So before you select one, know how you will be using it, where you will be using it, and then make your decision on which to purchase. The first one is nice for counter uses - the photo shows one in our bathroom adjacent to the makeup vanity. The cell phone sits on top in the holder quite nicely. The second surge protector works well in our kitchen island counter - we have one on either end of the counter - and we purchased an additional one that we keep in our travel pack for when we get to the hotel and find they don't have sufficient outlets.

I, like many, have too many electronics to plug in. I hate unplugging one thing and trying to find the plug for another thing all while making sure I don't unplug this thing accidentally. I didn't want a bulky power strip in my room so I decided to go for one of these because I had seen them floating around for a while and was intrigued. Very easy to install, simply remove the center screw for your outlet cover and plug this in over it. It will take up both outlets, the actual plug being at the top and the bottom being filled by a plastic plug, like the childproofing ones. I recommend leaving the outlet cover on underneath as the surge protector will not fully cover the exposed wires if you were to remove it. It would also just look really bad, if safety isn't incentive enough. This product comes with a longer screw that holds the surge protector in place while also holding the outlet cover in place. Make sure it's nice and tight, try and give it a little test wiggle to make sure. You probably don't NEED to unscrew the outlet cover screw and use the screw that comes with the protector. You could just plug it in and leave it at that, but I would highly recommend using the screw-in method as it increases the stability of the product. They include the screw for a reason, after all. It works great, has a little light to let you know it's working/protecting, all around a fantastic product that saves me from trying to hide an ugly surge protector by my nightstand.

Works good! Bought two of these at walmart. A different brand but the exact model. Only one of them worked. So instead of trading the non working one for another one, in fear of the replacement also not working. And having to go to the store three times for one item. I came to purchase one off of Amazon. The first one worked! So I ordered another one, and it works too! I don't know the specific AMPs specs etc. But when I am charging my phone and my tablet via the USB ports while using a laptop also plugged in and a lamp plugged in at the same time. Both the phone and tablet charged pretty fast! I like that you have the optional screw given to be able to really hold it in place so that when you pull off one plug the whole adapter doesn't come off the wall. BUT even without using the screw. It still is pretty sturdy and does not come off the wall after unplugging an item. The only time I need to hold it down while I unplug something is unplugging the laptop plug since its a heavy duty plug. Unplugging USB cables causes no movement of the adapter. Also I love that this is a FLAT adapter! It sits flat against the wall/plug. There are other good brands out there too, but they have flawed models and are expensive! (GE) They are curved!? So when you plug in or unplug a plug on any of the side (not middle) ports, you HAVE TO hold it while doing so, because it will rock to that side and almost totally come unplugged each time. Name brand isn't always the best. This is my new favourite wall adapter!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Exactly What I Needed! This POWRUI Surge Protector is perfect! It’s got 2 USB ports and 6 AC outlets, so I can plug in everything without having to choose which device gets power. I especially love that all 6 outlets are usable—no crowding issues at all, even with bigger plugs. The phone holder on top is a nice bonus, keeping my phone right there and out of the way while it charges. Plus, with 1680 joules of surge protection, I know my stuff is safe. No complaints here, just an awesome, super convenient product!
