It’s an old joke. What else is an old joke is when you need some common TTL chips and you don’t have them in stock! Insert this box! Makes a great gift! The quality seems to be pretty good, I haven’t run them all in a chip tester but they are what they say, and so far, about a year later from when I first bought this set, none have failed after being used. That’s value for money right there! Granted there are some chips thatI wish we were included inthere, and some that I’ll never use, probably. Never say never. The point is is become my fallback box. If I don’t have the common chip, I’m looking for in my (dis) organizer, there’s likely one in this box. The very first use I got from this set was working on an Atari middle earth pinball machine MPU board. Yes, Atari made solid state pinball machines in the 1970s. It’s strange a lot of people don’t know that. Anyway, it was one common TTL away from working, and I didn’t have any. Sob! Tears! That’s when I ordered this set, it was cheap, had a great variety of common chips in it, and I didn’t know what else I might need for that pinball machine that I might not have on hand. And yes, a year later, the Atari pinball machine is still working, and working really well too! I guess I can say that if you’re starting out as an electronics hobbyist, this is one of the many sets of chips you should have on hand. TTL logic rulez! Oh yeah, they said also comes with chip sockets. Highly recommended to use those and makes chip swapping a breeze!

Fantastic selection! I am able to recreate all the lab experiments in my intro to logic design at university at home with this kit! Fantastic! The IC chips at my university are unreliable because students tend to toast the chips. Being able to take my time and do the labs at home with ICs that actually work has really helped me learn. I've used a good number and variety of the IC chips in this kit and they all work great! For my last lab we used (2 )74LS74 Dual D-type flip flops (2) 74LS153 Dual 4-1 Multiplexers and (1) 74LS04 Hex Inverter to make a universal shift register. This kit had ALL the IC's needed plus 2 actual 74LS153 Bi-directional universal shift registers. I havent messed with those yet but I'm confident they work fine.

I love the variety of this kit. You get most of the common chips for fixing arcade game PCBs which helps with troubleshooting. There are a few common ones missing so bought those and put them in place of the sockets. The sockets are machine (round) style and not something I would use for arcade board repair but that’s a personal preference. These are noticeably lighter than original chips. The legs are thinner so I expect they aren’t as durable. But good for the price. I’ll use these to test (in a socket) and then buy better quality once a bad chip is confirmed. My biggest gripe is they are not organized in numerical order! I made a chart and taped it on the inside lid to make my life easier. Good kit, worth the price as a testing tool.

Nice assortment. I used several while getting my old Osborne 1 working.

This has a decent selection of ICs. I need led a couple of different ones and it was cheaper to order this than the individual chips and pay for shipping. Probably won't ever use some of them, but it is great for the ones I do need and every one I have used so far has worked without issue.
