Question 1

Have any one had any luck using this to learn from a roku ultra controller? does not seem to learn...

Accepted Answer

I have this remote working fine with my Roku Ultra. The trick to get it to learn from your Roku remote is to unplug the Roku. This forces the remote to go into IR mode, and you can then use it to teach the universal remote. When the Roku is plugged in, the Roku remote is in RF mode and does not transmit IR.

Question 2

I'm trying to re-program the remote. But it won't blink-just solid red when holding both set & power. Any ideas?

Accepted Answer

I just followed the instructions and didn't have any trouble with the programming.

Question 3

My remote has a voice control button that connects to Google assistant. Can this button and function be learned?

Accepted Answer

These are great replacement or supplemental infrared light based remote controls but they don't support radio frequency based personal area networks like Google, Alexa etc. and there is no microphone. An easy way to determine the difference is if your remote control still controls the intended device while covered in a light blocking material or from a different room with the door closed it will be R.F. based. An IR based must receive the light pulses and some are sensitive enough to detect reflected IR even when not pointed directly at the device but completely blocked IR will not control the device. Many use both with the IR used to turn on the device when then connects to the remove by R.F. they're designed this way to conserve battery life in the remote which would always need to be active and connected using only R.F.
