Thanks for your question! We're currently working on an inventory transition, and the only difference between the two versions is packaging. Both contain the same product and instructions.

How is this different from the advanced set?

The advanced set offers significantly higher resistance levels compared to the beginner set. While the beginner's set provides resistance similar to that of 3, 4, and 5 pound free weights, the advanced set provides resistance similar to that of 6 and 8 pound free weights. If I had a minor rotator cuff tear, should I get the blue and black bands? Shoulder is decently strong but some stiffness and occasional sharp pain

I have problems in both my elbows (minor 'tennis elbow') and strains in both rotator cuffs ... my physio always gave me the lightest bands; the idea being to do the series physio exercises several times daily. Consequently, I purchased the pack containing yellow, red and green; and started with the lightest band (the yellow). Yes, using light resistance can seem almost useless and frustratingly ridiculous ... but keeping at it, the light bands have resolved my issues. If I were going to build muscle mass and had no joint issues, I would probably start with the band that gave the usual muscle fatigue after three sets of exercise.
