Excellent Case for Pi 5 — Premium Quality, But Pricey

The Argon ONE V5 case is absolutely top-tier when it comes to functionality and design. The cast aluminum body looks and feels premium, and it doubles as an effective passive heatsink. Combined with the built-in 30mm PWM fan, thermal performance is excellent—even under sustained loads, the Pi 5 stays cool and stable. The thoughtful additions like dual HDMI support, extra front-facing USB 2.0 ports, and the built-in DAC with mic/headphone jacks make this one of the most feature-rich cases on the market. It’s ideal for media centers, Home Assistant setups (thanks to the internal USB port for ZigBee), or even lightweight desktop replacement scenarios. Setup was smooth, and the build quality is exceptional. That said, the price feels a bit steep for a case—even one this advanced. While you do get a lot of features and expandability (especially the M.2 NVMe option), it still may not be the best value for casual Raspberry Pi users or those on a budget. If you’re building a high-end Pi 5 setup and want the best experience possible, this case delivers. But for those just doing basic projects, it might be overkill.

A Premium Raspberry Pi Case That Delivers Desktop-Class Performance

From the moment I opened the box, it was clear this Pi case was in a league of its own. The solid aluminum shell feels sturdy and well-machined, with a smooth finish and a magnetic lid that clicks on and off with a satisfying snap. Assembly was straightforward thanks to the clear instructions, and all components fit together perfectly—the board, USB expansion, HDMI module, and front panel. I really appreciate the little touches, like the power indicator light that shows green when running and red when off. With everything assembled, the case gives my Pi a clean, professional look that wouldn’t be out of place next to any desktop setup. One of the standout features is the cooling. The integrated 30mm PWM fan, combined with the aluminum body, does an outstanding job at keeping the Pi cool, even during demanding tasks. The fan operates quietly and only ramps up when needed, so it never gets distracting. Even after hours of heavy use—compiling code or streaming media—the temperatures remained low, and the case itself just felt slightly warm to the touch. It’s a huge upgrade from the plastic cases I’ve used in the past, both for thermal performance and noise. The connectivity options really make this case shine. Full-size HDMI ports on the back allow for easy dual-monitor setups, and the front panel offers quick access to USB ports and audio jacks. The onboard DAC and headphone jack work great for music or video calls, and being able to plug in peripherals without reaching around the back is super convenient. There are also options inside the case for adding ZigBee modules and M.2 NVMe storage, making it possible to turn your Pi into a serious desktop or server. Everything is neatly integrated, and the case even provides access to the GPIO pins and is compatible with HATs, though using larger add-ons might require leaving the top off or some creative cable management. If I had to nitpick, cable routing inside the case can be a bit of a squeeze when adding expansion boards or NVMe drives, and you absolutely need a solid 5V 5A USB-C power supply to keep everything running smoothly. The price is higher than most basic Pi cases, but considering the build quality, cooling, and features, I think it’s completely justified. For anyone wanting to transform their Pi into a polished, high-performance machine—whether for desktop use, home automation, or as a media center—this case delivers on every front. It’s become the heart of my Pi setup and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it.

Great overall with too many good features to list. Highly recommend at this price.

Great case from Argon. Best case for a sbc Ive ever owned. First off, looks awesome. It is solid matte black with sleek lines and port openings for your RPI5. I love the matte black look, especially on aluminum. There is no shine to the top and it has a brushed metal appeal to it.The bottom part is plastic, which is fine. The biggest drawback to the plastic is that it is not as good at dissipating heat and it is much more fragile. For example, when I first opened the case up I pulled up instead of sliding the top down. There is a little plastic hook part that the top latches onto that I snapped off by pulling to hard (see last pic). Not a huge deal as the top has magnetic holds (love this feature) to keep it on as well as the screws. The rpi5 fits into the case perfectly. The case is specifically designed to route all of the various rpi5 cables to the case ports, just like in a PC. There is a built in fan placed on the metal top and a nvme heatsink on the plastic bottom to keep the device cool. The built in ports are in the "daughter card" that comes with the case. This is a modular design that is quite awesome. The best part of this card is that it converts the mini hdmi port into a full sized hdmi port! No need to use those hard to find mini hdmi to full hdmi cables! The card also takes 1 x usb-c in from the rpi5 and outputs 1 x usb-c and 2 x usb-a. This is good if you need more peripheral usb ports. You can still use the usb-c port out at full speed I presume if you dont use the two extra usb-a ports. This thing is great overall with too many good features to list. Highly recommend at this price.
