## Description

desertcart.com : Princess 77 Hybrid Bermuda Grass Seeds 2 Lbs (Bulk) : Grass Plants : Patio, Lawn & Garden

Review: Worked great and the grass looks beautiful - Took longer than expected to sprout, and I needed more seed than I thought initially (bought 2 bags, 4 would have been better), but about 8 weeks later, I have a beautiful back yard full of grass. Here’s some helpful notes: 1 - Get a 2lb bag of seed for every 500sqft. 2 - Water frequently but for short intervals. 1 min at the top of every hour from 11am to 3pm in addition to 5 minutes in the early A.M. (This may change depending upon your location and climate) 3 - Your seed will require attention once planted. Doesn’t matter what seed you buy, you have to care and pay attention to your future lawn.
Review: So far, looks good - Slow to grow at first (compared to rye and fescue), but then it picks up after 2 months. I planted in late January, lightly covered (only a dusting of sand and peat), watered 2-3x a day to keep wet, and had germination in 8-12 days. I should give it its first cut by April. Some have said they got poor germination, but no problem here. Maybe people plant when it is too cool out or let the seeds dry out. FYI, my soil sucks, just sugar sand, so I assume most should have more success with the better soils.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Why can’t I find this seed on Pennington web site**
A: It’s not easy to find due to newer hybrid strains.

**Q: What is the coverage per lb ? I saw that the 25lb bag noted 25k sq ft. So the math notes 1lb= 1000 sq ft. Do the smaller bags note same ratio?**
A: Maybe for a pro 1lb = 1k sq ft but I found that I needed around 1.5 - 2 lbs for my ~1.2k sq ft yard. If you can get a good even consistency, I think you could pull it off.

**Q: Is the Princess 77 Bermuda grass good for shaded areas?**
A: Generally speaking, Bermuda isn’t a good choice for shade but it depends how much shade you have. It really requires a good 4 hours of direct sun to do well, although a longer cutting height in shady areas can help.

**Q: Whats the prep for this? we have 250 sq ft dirt yard, the soil is clean but pretty hard- can i loosen it and seed/water? live in socal**
A: I live in South Texas. I tilled the soil, evened it out, spread the seeds by hand, raked them lightly into the dirt and watered. Watered twice a day until the grass was about 2" in height, then reduced to wastering once a day for about a week, and then less frequently until I got to the point where I water it only when the dirt was absolutely dry and the grass started to turn brown.
When it reached 2 inches I cut the grass down to about 1 inch and kept doing that for several weeks. Also fertilized twice after I stated cutting it (No fertilizer with weed killer - it will kill the grass). Most weeds I pull manually, the remainder I spot treat with liquid weed killer for lawns.
I have a nice lush lawn now!

### ⭐ SCAM DO NOT BUY, worth zero stars.
*by M***S on May 15, 2022*

Not worth buying. Half of the bag is inert matter. Inert matter is the percent, by weight, of material not capable of growth (i.e. filler). Filler can be any substance added to take up space. For example: broken seed that couldn’t be removed, dirt, corn cobs, sand, ect. Otherwise, you’re paying for a pound of junk! Wasted my time waiting for the item just to find out that I overpaid for a pound of seeds. Don’t waste your money and go somewhere else!
