Simple and Clean is the way that it's making me feeeeel tonight, it's hard to let it go~!
Wonderful little device, the battery life is as claimed, it's lightweight enough to hang from my necklace or even a small chain on some headphones- I got some vintage headphones to go with this, and the audio's been great. Worked with all my music, read as an MP3 player with WinAmp, smaller than I thought but then again I must have not noticed the 'mini', it's a pretty blue. It's got everything you need to listen to music and nothing you don't, no ads, no subscriptions, just your own collection of music. Even without Hifi headphones it sounds great to me. I like how the 'direction' can be adjusted for volume and tracking, as it was initially counterintuitive, but was how it'd be on a real cassette player, as this uses those classic style buttons to control everything. Don't expect any fancy graphics or the screen to stay on the entire time, that's a waste of battery this device doesn't do, but what it does do is play your music, let you save favorites, has a decent storage , and fits easily into a backpocket, or on a keychain. I may yet buy an actual cassette player off this company- or a non-mini version, but so far its' really scratched that itch for a cozy, simple, yet quality music player for the music that I own. And has me hunting for a balanced headphone to try out the other jack.

The internet rep checks out
I was skeptical while looking online for a basic offline music player. Something with zero mega corporations watching and selling data. No subscriptions etc. watched a YouTube video or two while scanning for signs of being paid to make a positive video.. decided the reviews seemed genuine. I’m glad I did. This player is great. (I hesitate to call it an mp3 player because.. it’s playing flaac as I’m typing this.) it only derped out once. I had it shut down and restart. Been fine since and the reboot was fine. And there’s a recessed reset option for if it wigs out worse. I recommend putting all music on your SD card from the start. If you try to split your files between the built in memory and the SD card memory so you can switch between them- you’ll likely be annoyed. It takes some time to set up each time you swap. But once you’ve set it to read one of them, it’s always ready to go when you turn it on. The size and weight are so perfect for putting in a pocket. The navigation buttons are good. At first I thought the orientation of volume up and down was odd, and then I put it in my pocket and used the buttons while in pocket. The. You realize there was thought put into even this use-case. It’s a good product. I recommend it.

Perfect if you don't mind the shortcomings
Would give 5 stars but top two "transport" looking buttons only control the volume limiter. You can't adjust them to be back/forward or volume control. Must control via Bluetooth headphones, assuming you have them. So to change songs, you need to press power, then back button, then navigate to the next song and press play. I bought this to switch away from my phone since I have to navigate way too much to change songs. There is also no way to skip in a track or rewind. It's play all the way through or nothing. Otherwise it has a nice premium feel, especially the packaging. Audio sounds great. UI is a bit clunky to get used to but get used to it quickly, it's intuitive just enough. Very compact too! Screen has great brightness, adding music is easy as drag and drop to folders. Trying to create a playlist, I couldn't figure out. You can set songs to favorite but very time consuming.

Good device maybe but not the one I got
Quality is good in some ways, really bad in others. It only seems to remember one Bluetooth device at a time, and will not connect to the stereo in my car at all, presumably because mine is the kind that wants to show a pin and have you confirm to connect. Okay, nbd I just buy an aux cable, but now I can't skip songs from the radio buttons. To skip on this device, one must press and hold an arrow key, which is annoying. It should really be tap to skip, hold for volume instead. Then I find out that my .ogg files won't play at all, despite it saying that file type is supported. Okay, fine. So I convert them to flac. Still says "format not supported" despite other flacs playing fine. So I try mp3. Great, they play now. But all of a sudden the right audio channel is just... gone? Bluetooth, aux, doesn't matter. Just all of a sudden it's broken. All I've done is connect the thing to a pc a half dozen times, had it 4 days and mostly been a pain in the butt every time I tried to use it, resulting in me just driving with no music instead. Audio quality is quite good, and I like the mini Walkman style design, but I am extremely disappointed I even spent $50 on this. If I were to have one that didn't break itself in less than a week I might give it 3-4 stars.

The only cheap thing is the price!
This is amazing! It plays multiple types of music files making it a DAP player and sounds as good as my Sony Walkman DAP I purchased 9 years ago. I love the retro look of the classic Walkman cassette player while being smaller than an actual cassette. The screen is not touch but the buttons navigate the screen well once you learn how. It has 8gig internal memory and you can expand to 256 gigs with a micro SD card. It's Bluetooth connection was easy and quick but it only remembers one device at a time. I wear it comfortably around my neck and can get 12 hours listening easily from the rechargeable battery. It's an amazing value at a cheap price point. Make sure you visit the FiiO web site for firmware updates to improve your experience. ( lanyard not included)

Good, but not great. A+ on the design.
Looks fantastic. Made of plastic, but well built. Fair price. Cons: hard to use (not intuitive at all). Menu system sucks! Sound is just “so-so”.

Punches far above it's price point.
At $50, this thing is a steal. Does it sound as good as a higher end DAP? No. Does it sound better than most anything that costs 3 or 4 times as much? Yes. It packs enough power from the balanced outputs to drive HE1000SE reasonably well, although lacking a bit of weight. Also pushes HE-400S pretty well, as well as the 150 ohm sennheiser HD-660S decently. Thunders with the Meze 99 Classics. The bottom end lacks a bit of punch and definition on the harder to drive cans mentioned above, and there is a bit of coarseness and lack of refinement, but make no mistake that the sound is subjectively pleasing, unlike a lot of budget DAPs costing much more and it is behind excellent for the price. Light as a feather too. I agree with the other review that the lack of a button to skip to the next track is a shame, and there is also a lag when starting to play a song before it loads and plays. But this is a great item for the price, good for a beater unit for something like jogging or work or travel, when you don't want to risk damage or theft but you still want decent sound and power.

Very Nice
Pretty good build quality, great sounding compared to other similar devices, and the TXT viewer is a cool inclusion. Great product in general, FiiO is a good brand for audio products.

Muy nostálgico
Esta muy bonito. Muy buen material. No he tenido problemas para sincronizar mis audífonos o bocinas por Bluetooth. Tiene muy buen sonido. Su forma me recuerda mucho al primer walkman que tuve. Me encanta.

Super.
