This item works for me. I have a foot-drop medical condition resulting from a herniated disk in my back which damaged the nerves needed to control my left foot. I can curl my toes and foot down, but I cannot lift them. This means I may drag my toes, stumble, and fall, without some sort of brace. This brace corrects that, I can walk normal now without the fear of dragging my toes on the ground or obstructions and fall. I no longer have to pay special attention to lift my knee higher with each step to raise my foot higher because of the foot drop - the brace keeps the toe/foot to shin angle at a proper angle when walking. It is light, comfortable, simplistic, and an elegant solution to the problem. I am very happy and will probably buy a few more so that I have a stash of them.

can I wear it with regular shoes without laces?

You need a lace or a strap on the front of the shoe or sneakers to use this type of brace

It should. I don't play golf, but it should work on any lace up shoe.
