This book is one of the best aviation books that I've bought. It is worded in more easy to understand terms than the FAA books, but is very thorough. I would highly recommend.

This is one of the better study books I've found for instrument flying. I don't use Jeppesen products so the fact that they explain both NACO and Jeppesen symbology and charts it a little obnoxious. Otherwise, there is a lot of good information including departure, holding and arrival procedures as well easily understandable explanations of VFR sectionals, ELA's, approach plates, FARs, AIM information etc... This book is out of print and is meant for some type of formal syllabus type instruction but it's an excellent additional to your personal library if you regularly fly IFR.
